HI all. I recently bought an affordable Jeep double umbrella stroller for trips to the mall and WDW in mind. My DS is 4 1/2 and my DD is almost 11 months old. I have the Maclaren Quest Mod for her and I just LOVE it!!!

But I NEED a double, since I have a VERY VERY VERY active 4 1/2 year old who refuses to listen when his name is called and has the tendency to run away!!! :bounce:

So I ordered the Jeep double stroller, thinking it is a GREAT buy for something I won't be using every day.

Well, it came the other day. I was putting it together today and although it is great, the directions say it only holds 35 pounds per seat!!!! :furious: DS is 42 pounds already, and DD is 21.9 pounds. I don't think this stroller will do the trick! I don't want it to fall apart or for it to tip over when I turn around for a second!!!

I was thinking of sucking it up and just getting the Maclaren double, since it holds up to 55 pounds PER SEAT. This way, I will get a few more Disney trips out of it.

My question is, should I just chance it and keep the existing Jeep?? How many of you have it and how many of you think I should return it? Should I get the Maclaren double? If so, where is the best place to order it? I want to spend $200 MAX on the double (will take a 2005 model), so any info you have on where to find it is much appreciated.

Suggestions and advice are welcome.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!! :sunny:

I have the Jeep double umbrella. My ds4 (almost 5) is 41 lbs. and my dd2 is 31 lbs. It is getting hard to maneuver with both of them in it. We took it to the zoo last weekend and I ended up having my dh push it all day - I usually like to do the pushing but it was killing my back. I find another problem with my ds is he's getting too tall. It was really hot and I wanted to shade him but when the sunshade was over his head it was literally sitting on his head -- and you could see the entire top of his head on the top side of the shade. We have a really nice Jeep jogging stroller that I was planning on using for WDW but I'm afraid that my ds just will not be able to walk all day for several days in a row - he does great for one day at a time. I was looking at the Maclaren Volo which says it goes to 55 lbs. I'm going to take my children with me and try them in it. I think we may end up buying two since we do take a lot of trips especially during the summer -- zoos, museums, amusement park.

We have the Twin Traveller and love it! We use it all the time when we go to Disneyland and on day trips when we know we'll be walking around all day. My children are now three and five and we still use ours (35 lbs and 45 lbs)! Since you already have a Maclaren, I don't have to go into details about how nice their strollers are, but I will say that the TT steers well even with just one child riding it. I can't comment on the Jeep, but I've read mixed reviews on it. It also looks wider than the TT when I've seen it IRL, but I can't be sure about that.

Only suggestion I have is that if you decide to bring your TT to Disneyland or WDW, consider locking it up. Unfortunately, we had our first TT stolen at Disneyland and we had to buy a new one. It's probably an isolated incident, but still, you never know... :(

I'm not aware of any stores or websites that have great deals on the TT, but have you considered looking at Craigslist to see if someone is sellling theirs? There's one currently for sale on the NYC Craigslist for $225, which is the model I have:

Good luck in your search.

Regarding the TT, is it wide enough for two older kids? I have twins who will be 4 yrs old at our next Disney visit. DS is 40lbs and 41", and DD is 36lb and 39". I thought I read somewhere that the TT can be too narrow for bigger kids?

Thanks!

I have a TT and currently am strolling my 46 lb 41/2 year old(she doesn't listen either) and my 22 lb 11 month old. I love McClaren strollers and wouldn't consider trading to another. I had bought all the lesser expensive ones and ended up giving away or selling. I also sometimes push my 5 year old niece and my daughter at the same time, so it does fit two pre-schoolers(hopefully they don't bonk each other, it is close) :)

I love my TT. It is so smooth and effortless. I push around my 4 year old 43 lb. dd and my 28-ish lb 22 month old dd. Highly recommend it!

Check ebay-when I bought mine I saw some good prices on it for 2004 models, but for some reason I ended up buying a 2005. I can't remember why though...

Right now, my DD is about 42" and 45 lbs. She's close to being too big for the TT. She probably has a 1/2 year to one year more (that's pushing it) in the stroller. It's a snug fit when she sits in it, but it's not uncomfortable for her. She does stretch her legs out from time to time when she's riding, so I'd say she'll probably outgrow it length-wise before she reaches the maximum weight.

Since your twins are similar in size to my DD, I think they'll be able to use the TT for about a 1/2 year to a year or so and then they may be too big for it.

HTH!
