Yet another quick SW question - Cancelling after check in?

I have a flight booked on points for early Saturday morning to visit my daughter at school which I will most likely be canceling due to bad weather forecasted in OH. We are going to wait until the last minute to cancel assuming the flight doesn’t get canceled which it might. My question is does it matter if we have already checked in when we cancel? I assume it would be the same as any other cancellation and my points will just return to my account.

Southwest's policy is spelled out here: https://www.southwest.com/html/air/fare-information.html There is a lot of text on that page -- look for the paragraphs titled "No Show Policy" under each fare group.

The policy appears to be very generous. If booked on cash, passengers can cancel up to 10 minutes prior to departure. If booked on points, it looks like you can simply not show up for the flight and get your points back but I would cancel to be sure.

I wouldn't think it would matter if you had already checked in or not.
