Last night around 6 p.m. the phone rings-it's my FIL, and he asks me if we are on our way to their house for dinner yet ( about 15-20 min. away ). I tell him no..... noone told me anything about dinner at their house-we don't eat over their house on any kind of regular basis, so this wasn't something that anyone should have assumed. Meanwhile, DD13 is sleeping (recovering from a sleepover the night before
), DS15 is at a friend's house, DS19 is doing laundry before he heads back to school ( a little less than an hour's drive, and he had made plans with his roommates for the night ), and DH is still at work, sanding drywall, about a 1/2 hour drive from our house. I tell FIL that I'll call DH to ask him if he knew about dinner. DH tells me he knew nothing about going to his parents for dinner that night, plus he has about another hour of work and clean up to do. I have DH call his parents house to let them know that we're sorry, but there wasn't any way we could make it for dinner. So, even though MIL forgot to tell anyone in my family that she was preparing a "big dinner " for us ( even though she talked to DS19 that morning, and walked in to my bedroom without knocking while I was in bed the day before -but that's a whole 'nother vent
) - guess who is in the wrong??? I guess being a mindreader is part of the marriage contract. Thanks for letting me vent!
