Yet another incident... children in bathrooms.

OMG, my daughter is going to hate me because I am smothering her! God help all our children!

Yes, this is alocal news story. I'm glad to hear that the person got caught.

This is a fairly decent section of Philadelphia as well.

In my township library, the mens room is locked (requires buzzing/key), but the ladies room is open to everyone.

I know my son is going to hate it as well.

I agree with MAC3; GOD help ALL of our children! This is soooo sad! Thank God this man's friend was decent enough to come forward with the information.

Once again, it shows you CANNOT be too careful with your children. My heart breaks for the girl and her family, her life will be changed forever. :(

So sad, hoping the little girl does well, prayers are with her. Hope that jerk has the book thrown at him and is locked up forever.

I agree, you can't be too careful with your children even if they don't like it. My 11yo DD thinks she is old enough to go to the bathroom by herself and I say everytime, I'm sorry, but I have to go with you. We were away for a few days without DH so 9yo DS had to go to the ladies bathroom. He was very glad when dad arrived. I'm just not willing to take the chance, even if it is a one person bathroom, I check it out before they go in and then stand guard.

And to think, I was flame-broiled on another thread for saying that my DS8 WILL go in the ladies room with me because "you never know". I'm a single mom and when we're out together, he has no choice. It's just not worth the risk for a horrible life-changing even to take place. Poor little girl.

I'm right there with you on that one. DS (7 almost 8) will ALWAYS go into the womens' restroom with me when we are out alone!! Can't take any chance with our children.

Very sad. My prayers are with her and her family. Hope the jerk get's what he deserves.:(

My daughter and I took her kids to Nashville for a long weekend last year. When we got home, her DS7 told his dad "I am SO ready to go into a men's restroom for a change".

He did get to go into a single-user restroom by himself, once, while I stood outside. But that was after I had checked it thoroughly.

Yes, those threads come up once in a while... I ignore them. While we can't protect our children 100% of the time, this is one area where we can greatly reduce the risk of a pervert harming them.

How sad, and in a library of all places, geesh!! :(

You know, I have never understood people getting upset over someone bringing their child, of the opposite sex, into the bathroom. For goodness sake, it's not like they're bringing their child into YOUR stall. You have your own privacy in the stall, do your business, zip your pants (or pull up your pantihose, whatever....) and make sure you're "decent" before you leave the stall and then go wash your hands. WHAT is the big deal???!!!

So should a man take his DD's into the mens room? I see and understand the issue at hand here, and would kill myself if anything happen to them, but I do have personal issues taking my daughters to busy men's restrooms. (dd6 and dd7) Sometimes the stalls are not so private with the mens room.

My DH does take our 2 girls DD7 and DD4 into the men's room with him. We don't mind the chance of their seeing a man at a urinal and so far, no man has complained to DH about it. My DH is a SAHD so he is often out with the girls while I am at work.
