Yet ANOTHER computer question!

The kids told me when they were trying to play a game on candystand, it said that shockwave wasn't installed. They tried to install it, but kept getting an error message. I figured it was because they were trying from their pages and I have parental controls set up and that was the problem. I just tried to install it from my page and I keep getting a "network connection" error message. I thought it might of been the firewall blocking it, so I disabled that and tried...nope....WHY is this computer doing everything to drive me crazy?!?

I am being quite serious here!! I am honestly more interested in getting this "shockwave8" installed because I came across a neat Disney World screensaver from disney.com.uk and I was able to download it but I can't see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're actually up to version 10 so maybe the link on that site is no good. Try this link that goes directly to Macromedia the makers of Shockware. I'm sure it is backwards compatible to run something that needed version 8.

That's the first thing I had to add for DD! You don't realize you need Shockwave or Falsh until the kiddies find a game on nick.com that requires the plug-in. Since DH changed her settings this time around, I had to go to Macromedia and get the download. I didn't have any problems by going directly to their site.

Did you clear your IE cache and internet temp files, and other temp files?

We had a clean hard drive, such as what always quiet is currently experiencing.

I have the 'regular' shockwave' installed (I assume anyway!) since the kids can play the games. Only the shockwave8 is giving me problems! I "fixed" my screensaver problem myself though....downloaded a bunch of my favorite pictures from Dan's photo threads and I have a GREAT one!!
