Yes, We're Satisfied With Our Care! October 2015 TR **NEW 8/21 Final Thoughts

I was so confused to see the Eiffel Tower here! :rotfl: Then I remembered Food and Wine displays.

When the ride started picking up speed at the end, DS looked at me a little freaked out and said, “But I didn’t make a fast car!”
:rotfl2: I love this!

I hate that you have to park strollers outside of The Land. I mean, I get why that is, but it just sucks when you have little ones.
Yep, totally agree. And it seems so far away to go over to that stroller parking lot, then turn back and walk up and in.

While they were waiting, DH actually found a fellow DIS Dad who had posted in their Facebook group that he was in the Soarin’ waiting area at the same time. Funny thing about it was not only was it another DIS Dad, he is also from a city within 20 minutes of where we live!
Very cool! :thumbsup2

I have really been loving this TR! I have to give you props on your early mornings and being able to get out the door with two little ones. You're a great writer, and I'm really enjoying this! Following along!

The early mornings were a bit tough, but definitely worth it!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you are enjoying it!

I'm glad DS enjoyed Test Track and Soarin! Sounds like a pretty solid Epcot morning :) So nice that DH was able to meet up with another DIS Dad!

It was fun having a couple of new rides for DS to try out for the first time now that he was tall enough. He had such a blast! It was great being able to take turns riding each attraction with him and experiencing it with him.

The Wishes pictures are the best ones I've ever seen! I would have never thought to watch it from the TTC. Also, the parade pictures from the train station were great - a different perspective being above the action. The ride home - oh my. Every parent can feel your pain on that. But, it looks like the kids were good to go the next morning!

It was an interesting night to see both nighttime shows from a new perspective for us. Although it ended in a meltdown, watching the fireworks from the TTC was a great way to end the night. Very peaceful to be able to sit back on a bench without a million people around and having to fight those same people to get down Main Street and to the car after.

Luckily after a good night's sleep they were ready to tackle the day!

I love that part! He did a nice job too!

I think it's his favorite part of the ride too! LOL I swear, he is going to be an engineer when he grows up. He loves designing vehicles!

:rotfl2: I'm glad he enjoyed the ride. Even if he didn't feel the urge to jump back on it.

How about that? I'm glad he decided to give it another shot!

His mind changed pretty quickly!

::yes:: I get it, but yeah, it is definitely a pain.

It maybe wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't such a hike from the stroller parking then up that incline into the building. They certainly don't make it easy there!

Nothing like going several hours away to meet someone from close to home!

Right?! It was too funny. I think they even found each other because the other DIS Dad posted a pic to Facebook of where he was and DH realized they were in the same area!

I was so confused to see the Eiffel Tower here! :rotfl: Then I remembered Food and Wine displays.

Haha! I can imagine that would be a little confusing at first!!

:rotfl2: I love this!

I am not a fan of the updated Test Track at all, but I absolutely love riding with DS and seeing his reactions! He was hilarious!

Yep, totally agree. And it seems so far away to go over to that stroller parking lot, then turn back and walk up and in.

Soooooooo far away. At least there are places to sit and relax in there since we spent a lot of time there while taking turns.

Sounds like you guys had a great time at Epcot!

That picture of your daughter cracked me up :rotfl2:

I find as DS gets older, we enjoy our time at Epcot more and more. He really loves so many of the attractions there now that he can do and appreciate more.

lol It's funny to look back at the pictures. She was so great for most of the trip, but she definitely had moments where she was just not having it!!

Day 6 Continued: Thursday October 22nd

After our ride, we had to tuck the Soarin’ rider swap away for the moment, grab the stroller, and hurry over to World Showcase to make it to our Via Napoli ADR.

We were a little rushed, so apparently no more photos were taken until we actually made it to the Italy pavilion. This makes me long for Venice so much now that I have been to the real thing!

It wasn’t long after we checked in that we were seated. Normally, we just get our usual pizzas, but we had decided to do something a little different this time. We ordered the arancini appetizer, which is fried risotto balls. It sounded like something similar that we had enjoyed in Rome on a walking food tour called suppli. It’s also a fried risotto ball, but it has a hunk of hot mozzarella cheese in the middle.

The arancini were pretty good, but definitely not as good as the suppli we enjoyed in Rome. Then for our entrees we ordered our usual favorites, pepperoni for DH and Quattro formaggi for myself. DS got a kids cheese pizza and made a friend at the table beside us.

While at lunch, we pushed back our Nemo FP so we wouldn’t have to hurry over there after lunch. We were finished eating around 1 and headed back out into the afternoon heat. But it sure did look pretty in photos!

We stopped to watch the flag troupe as they entered the pavilion for one of their performances.

Despite ordering some extra food at lunch, we decided we wanted some dessert! There was a gelato cart just outside of the pavilion, so we stopped to check out their selection and saw they had cookie sandwiches available. Despite being pretty sure I could find room for an entire one for myself, we decided on one to share.

So yummy! We stopped at one of the tall tables out for Food & Wine to enjoy it, and spotted one of the hidden Remys while we were there.

While I was standing off to the side in the shade, @Missyrose & @Pixel Dust (Missy & Franklin) spotted me and came over to say hi! We knew we were both in Epcot that day but hadn’t made any concrete plans to meet up, so it was perfect that we happened to be in the same place at the same time. We spent a few minutes hanging out and chatting, comparing our trips and talking about upcoming trips. We took a selfie together before parting ways…

It was so nice getting time to actually chat with them since I hadn’t had the opportunity to during the Halloween party while I was tending to DD. Sometimes, I feel weird and awkward talking to people I have only interacted with on the DIS and Facebook once it’s in person. I didn’t feel like that at all with these two! It was like just running into old friends in the parks and stopping to see how each other’s day is going. So glad I was finally able to hang out with them a bit! I have enjoyed Missy’s TRs for years!

We started walking back towards Future World because DD was ready to eat and it was so hot that I thought Baby Care would be the best place so we could get out of the sun. Our forward progress was stopped for a bit as we encountered the bridge being up.

While standing there and waiting for the bridge to lower, DS spotted the drums and wanted to play. So he and DH stayed there while I continued on to Baby Care.

When I arrived at Baby Care, I found the room for nursing moms was pretty full with all of the chairs taken. I took a spot on the floor behind a little table so that I could have a place to put my stuff. The CM working poked her head in and asked if I wanted a chair. I said, “No thank you, I’m fine.” DD was already eating so I didn’t want to disturb her by getting up. So I was totally surprised when the CM said, “Well, then I’ll have to ask you to step out because the room is full.” I was a little surprised, but I went to tell her, “So just bring me a chair then.” But I didn’t have a chance to even say anything because at least 3 of the other moms in the room jumped to my defense, saying loudly, “She’s breastfeeding!”

We all kind of bonded after that and began chatting. Lol The CM came back in later to ask if we needed more chairs again, and one of the moms said, “We need about 3 more.” And when the CM went out and shut the door, she added, “Yeah, and champagne for me and my friends!” Usually the nursing rooms were pretty quiet, but we had a lively group going in there that time! It made the time pass a little quicker because sometimes when it was super quiet and no one was talking to each other, I felt like we were in there FOREVER and I just kept hoping DD would hurry up and finish!

Meanwhile, DH and DS were wandering around Epcot and taking pictures of the atmosphere. It looks so deceivingly beautiful because it was actually miserably hot outside this day!

We were texting back and forth and agreed to meet in front of the fountains, thinking we might go ride Three Caballeros or do something else in WS while waiting to use our Nemo FP+. DD and I made it there first, so we took some Photopass pictures while we waited for DH and DS.

Once they found us, we got some pictures all together.

We talked about going to use our Nemo FP+ but DS looked and sounded like he was about to reach meltdown mode. The plan had been to spend the whole day in Epcot until late afternoon/early evening, but we knew at that point we needed to regroup. So we decided to head out instead and go back to Bonnet Creek for a break. We stopped for one more Photopass on the way out, but DS didn’t want to be in the picture so DH and I decided to take one just the two of us.

We got back to Bonnet Creek at around 3:15 and we all had a decent rest. DD had never napped or slept at night as easily as she did on this trip! Even with all of the napping she did in the carrier and stroller during the day, she would fall asleep as soon as we put her in her crib.

It was a perfect break, because we had plans for the evening and we wanted to be well rested!

UP NEXT: Some Imagination, Huh?

Such a nice photopass picture you got as you exited Epcot. Maybe just as well DS didn't want to be in it :earboy2: Sounds like a wise choice to change plans and take a rest. Hope you had a pleasant evening!

The food always looks so good at Via Napoli..maybe one day I will finally try it!

Mmm that cookie sandwich looks delicious!

Omg a hidden Remy, never seen that before!

I'm glad the other moms at baby care jumped to your defense! What would the difference be between sitting on the floor or in a chair!? :confused3

Love all the PP pics you guys got!

Good decision. Because this is one ADR you definitely don't want to miss!

Yum. I'm glad you had a good lunch, and that is always great when the kids can make friends while at Disney World.

That was probably smart. Not that I'd ever have the will power to say I'd just share.

We walked back over to Germany so DS could check out the trains.
Always have to make that stop.

Nice! I'm glad you got a bonus dismeet in!

Um... really? You have to be in a chair to use the room for its intended purpose?

It sounds like it was a meeting of kindred spirits. I'm glad they came to your defense and made the time go a little bit quicker.

Well, apparently Disney World wears the littlest ones out too! :thumbsup2

That's totally true! We so rarely get pictures just the two of us. And he would have just looked miserable in it anyway if we had forced him. lol

It ended up being way more hot and humid that day than we had anticipated, so staying in the park longer would have been a bad idea for sure! The rest was just what we needed.

The food always looks so good at Via Napoli..maybe one day I will finally try it!

Mmm that cookie sandwich looks delicious!

It's absolutely one of my favorite meals, but since you read my previous TRs I'm sure you know that already! lol Definitely worth a try one day. And the gelato outside was delicious, especially sandwiched between two soft cookies!

The hidden Remys were something for Food & Wine I think. One of those things where you buy a map and if you find them all you get a little trinket. We didn't get the map, but it was fun spotting him just hanging out on a gondola. DS was still talking about it the other day!

I was so confused by the CM at the baby care center! She made some comment like she thought I was just sitting in there to cool off or something?? But I was thinking, well why did you just offer me a chair then?! It was all very strange.

Good decision. Because this is one ADR you definitely don't want to miss!

Yum. I'm glad you had a good lunch, and that is always great when the kids can make friends while at Disney World.

YES! I know we are kindred spirits when it comes to that place. I look forward to that meal above all others in Disney World!

You don't even know how badly I wanted one all to myself... lol

It was so fun & random! And they are both just so sweet. It was like meeting up with friends!

Right?! It was so strange that she offered me a chair, and then a second later was telling me I needed to get out. She mumbled something about thinking I was just in there to cool off or something. Which even if I was just in there with the baby to cool off, why would it matter that I was sitting on the floor? I didn't understand it, but I was appreciative of the other moms in the room jumping to my defense before I could even say a word.

She has NEVER slept better at night than when we are in Disney World!! lol

Seems like a good morning and you did great getting there on time

So DIS confession - I have never ridden Test Track. It just never wins out compared to Soarin' (with the tiering) and then the standby line is too long to also fit it in when we have gone, but given how much your DS loved it we might have to try it next trip and rope drop might be the way to do it.

Plus who knows how the tiering will be once Froway and the A&E M&G opens up!

When the ride started picking up speed at the end, DS looked at me a little freaked out and said, “But I didn’t make a fast car!” He held on tight for the fast outdoor portion, and said, “It’s fast, but I’m not scared!” At the end of our ride, he kept saying over and over how awesome it was, but when I asked if he wanted to ride again, he said once was enough. Lol

I love that entire exchange! especially DS announcing that he is not scared!

Soarin really is great. My oldest daughter had a similar reaction in she was a little unsure until it got going and then she loved it (though she did keep asking me "what's that" and it would be a splotch on the film, so I am excited for the new version that is digital)

Ok, so DIS confession #2 - we've never eaten at Via Nappoli ... actually never eaten at any of the Italian restaurants. Guess we feel since we have such good Italian in the NY area we want to try different things - plus EPCOT has so many good choices - but I think at some point we are going to have to try there

That's a great story about you in the baby care center and glad you got the opportunity to bond like that ... never know when or where you will make friends!

Speaking of friends, that is great you ran into Missy and Franklin like that! I am sure Franklin and your DH have a ton to chat about related to photography!

I love the colors of the sky in the photo with the lightest blue peaking out like that

Sounds like a good call to take that break - glad it worked out well!

At the end of our ride, he kept saying over and over how awesome it was, but when I asked if he wanted to ride again, he said once was enough. Lol

LOL this reminds me of Aria a couple days ago - she tried some snack I was eating and said "well, it's delicious, but I don't want any more" that's sort of her talk for I don't really like it - but she puts it so eloquently! haha. Glad Paxton wanted to ride again later though!

When we met back up, we decided to over and use our Figment FP+ before I would need to take DD to eat.

So I just have to ask, was there really a line for Figment?!!?

DD wasn’t terribly impressed.

Hehehe I LOL'd at this picture! <3

DS absolutely LOVED Soarin’! He was pretty nervous at first until the ride started and he got an idea of what the ride was about. Then he relaxed and totally enjoyed it, especially the parts with the hot air balloons and, of course, Disneyland!

Awesome!! This is the one 40"er that aria hasn't been on!

The arancini were pretty good, but definitely not as good as the suppli we enjoyed in Rome.

Isn't it fun visiting restaurants after visiting the countries they inspire? The food never tastes quite as good, but it def brings back fun memories!

When I arrived at Baby Care, I found the room for nursing moms was pretty full with all of the chairs taken. I took a spot on the floor behind a little table so that I could have a place to put my stuff. The CM working poked her head in and asked if I wanted a chair. Wow, I have never had that happen!! So glad they came to your defense though, I can't believe the CM would tell you to leave?!?!?!?! What if you preferred the floor over those chairs? (I actually don't like the chairs they use, I feel like I tip forward or something?

How fun to have a lively group. I don't think I've ever talked to anyone in a nursing room haha (although when Maya was a bit older than Delilah was here, I needed it to be quiet or else she would prefer to look around everywhere vs. eat)

We got back to Bonnet Creek at around 3:15 and we all had a decent rest. DD had never napped or slept at night as easily as she did on this trip! Even with all of the napping she did in the carrier and stroller during the day, she would fall asleep as soon as we put her in her crib.

Never? Not even the old version?? I much prefer the old version where you were actually testing the vehicles under different conditions. Now you just kind of ride around in blacklight for the whole thing and the only interesting part is where you go outside at the end. You could split yours and Judy's FP's between the two and use it in conjunction with rider swap! That's what we have done. DS only gets to ride one of them twice, so we have asked him beforehand which one he wanted to do twice, and it's usually Test Track over Soarin. Just a suggestion! It has worked well for us.

Yeah, no telling how much havoc the A&E move is going to wreak! I'm sure it's going to be nuts.

I love that entire exchange! especially DS announcing that he is not scared!

Haha it was SO funny! Even the person in the row with us was laughing at him! His reactions were priceless.

Soarin really is great. My oldest daughter had a similar reaction in she was a little unsure until it got going and then she loved it (though she did keep asking me "what's that" and it would be a splotch on the film, so I am excited for the new version that is digital)

It has never been one of my favorites, so it had been a long time since I had been on it prior to this trip. But it was really fun to experience it with DS on his first time. He thought it was awesome!

I don't really know why I love that place so much, but the pizzas are just so good! I love that wood fired style, and it's hard to find that other places in WDW. I can totally understand wanting to try different things than what you have at home. And it's never as good. That's why I won't eat New Orleans style food anywhere else. It's always a disappointment! lol

That's a great story about you in the baby care center and glad you got the opportunity to bond like that ... never know when or where you will make friends!

That's so true! After that, we were swapping tips about having the little ones in the parks and stuff. It was a nice way to pass an otherwise boring time of the day.

Speaking of friends, that is great you ran into Missy and Franklin like that! I am sure Franklin and your DH have a ton to chat about related to photography!

Oh yes, they were talking a LOT prior to this trip about photography & comparing notes! And Missy and I have chatted a lot too, so it was really like just meeting up with friends from home or something.

I love the colors of the sky in the photo with the lightest blue peaking out like that

Sounds like a good call to take that break - glad it worked out well!

Looking at these pictures, I almost forget how hot, sweaty, and miserable we all were that day! lol

LOL this reminds me of Aria a couple days ago - she tried some snack I was eating and said "well, it's delicious, but I don't want any more" that's sort of her talk for I don't really like it - but she puts it so eloquently! haha. Glad Paxton wanted to ride again later though!

lol Paxton does that sometimes too! Or he gets something for himself that he doesn't like, so he insists on sharing it with me or DH. lol

So I just have to ask, was there really a line for Figment?!!?

While I don't remember for sure, I'm pretty confident there was not! lol But that was back when you HAD to make 3 FP so we used it to get it out of the way! We always hoped to book a 4th FP but a lot of times we ended up not in the park as late as we thought.

Hehehe I LOL'd at this picture! <3

For someone so little, she had some impressive facial expressions!

Awesome!! This is the one 40"er that aria hasn't been on!

I really think Aria will like it when she gets to try it! I'm excited for Paxton to be able to see the new one when it is ready for our October trip!

Isn't it fun visiting restaurants after visiting the countries they inspire? The food never tastes quite as good, but it def brings back fun memories!

I used to love that pavilion so much because I dreamed of seeing the real thing. Now that I have seen the real thing, it brings back SO many wonderful memories of our trip!

I don't think I've ever talked to anyone in a nursing room haha (although when Maya was a bit older than Delilah was here, I needed it to be quiet or else she would prefer to look around everywhere vs. eat)

It was totally bizarre. The CM made a comment that she thought I was just in there to cool off or something. But I don't get why she offered me a chair, then said the room was full? Why does it matter if I am in the chair she brought in or stay on the floor?! I didn't love the wooden rockers either. Have you been back to the one in MK recently? Now they have those big, comfy recliners!! I didn't mind hiking to baby care in MK in February. lol

In February when Delilah was 6 months, it was definitely tougher to get her to focus on eating. She is SO nosy and wanted to look around at all the other mamas and babies. I'm thinking our trip in a couple weeks is going to be even more challenging!!

NO I never used the MK BCC in Feb, guess I should have! That sounds amazing lol! Unfortunately our BFing has come to an end with Maya on Neocate now with all of her allergies. She is doing so much better though at least. I'm still sad about it but trying to find the "good" as well (i.e. eating all the good stuff like cheese pizza and ice cream hahaha).

At least her feedings are probably fewer now right? Just in the last week Maya dropped to 5 bottles per day :-D I have it in my notes Aria dropped to 4 feedings / day at 9 months old (she was still nursing) so we'll see.

There were only 3 chairs since they were so big and took up more space, but SO nice!!

Sorry you had to stop BF'ing, I know you were looking forward to doing it as long as with Aria. But how wonderful that you were able to find a formula that works for her! A happy and healthy baby is definitely the most important thing, not how they get their nutrition. I can definitely understand being sad about it though. As much as I detest pumping at work, I'm not looking forward to Delilah weaning.

She can go a little longer between feedings, so that should make it less stressful on our next trip. On a day with her at home she is typically 4 feedings a day most days, plus her baby food. I'm going to try pouches on the trip so I don't have to worry about bringing spoons and all that jazz. I'm just happy she can do finger foods now so she can entertain herself with some puffs or cheerios while we eat this time. In February, the biggest challenge with her was during meals because she couldn't really sit up in the high chair on her own, but if she was in someone's lap, she was grabbing at EVERYTHING on the table! At BOG lunch, she got a fistful of green beans from my dad's plate, then put her fist through my Master's cupcake. lol

I just found this and am loving it. We went 10/25-10/31 last year so this is so much nostalgia for me :)

Your kids are adorable, and I'm impressed how much you accomplished with such a wee one! Way to go!

That Baymax costume is amazing - my 2yo is Baymax obsessed, where did you get it?! He may need it this year!

And I dabble in photography and am so impressed by the pictures! Your hubby is a talented dude...those fireworks ones especially are fantastic! Mind telling me what gear he uses for the parks? I only took a 30mm prime last trip and am trying to decide what to bring to this years trip :)

I also looked into doing 1 day at universal because I am a serious Potterhead and am DYING to go. 2 park 1 day tickets are too rich for my blood sadly, on top of the 2nd Disney trip in 13 months. One day!

Thanks for sharing your trip!!

Welcome!!

Thanks so much! I think it helped that she is my second. I was way too nervous with DS to have even attempted a trip to Disney with him so young. And she's been (thankfully) way easier than he was as a baby. He had a horrible time with spitting up pretty much every time he ate, had to be on meds, etc. She's been a dream compared to that, so it made travel a lot easier. It did seem like we got a lot done. I remember reading TRs where they rode like 1 thing before lunch and thinking, "Oh my gosh, we are making a huge mistake!!" But it all turned out great!

We got his Baymax costume online from Party City! It was a huge hit, both in the parks and when we went Trick or Treating in our neighborhood at home.

I mentioned your question to DH, so he should be by soon to give you the scoop on his camera gear! I am totally clueless about that stuff, so I'm no help with that. lol

Although you won't get to ride the Hogwarts Express, it's still totally worth one day to visit the park and see the Wizarding World! I love Hogsmeade, but Diagon Alley absolutely took it up like 10 notches. It's AMAZING, and every Potter fan needs to go there at least once in their lives!!

Day 6 Continued: Thursday October 22nd

Feeling refreshed and recharged, we were ready to go to DHS that evening and left to get there around 5:15.

Right inside the entrance were some CMs with hula hoops for the kids, so of course DS wanted to join in!

We stopped for some Photopass photos on Hollywood Blvd.

Our only plan for the evening was to see Fantasmic, but we needed some dinner beforehand. We went over to our go-to place in DHS, Backlot Express.

It was closed!! So we ended up deciding to go over to ABC Commissary instead to get some burgers. DS spotted the thing over by Star Tours that I will be upfront and say I have no clue what it is called.

We ate pretty quickly because we wanted to be able to get into the theater early enough to have seats instead of being stuck standing. After scarfing down our food, we hustled over to the Fantasmic theater. It really threw a wrench in our plans that the quick service places on Sunset Blvd. were closed and we had to eat somewhere clear across the park!

Fortunately, we got inside in plenty of time to find a seat! Unfortunately, that meant we had a longish wait until the show started and DD was not too happy about it.

DS was a little antsy too, but it was nothing that his very first Mickey bar ever couldn’t fix!

There was a DJ playing music before the show started, and at one point while DH was trying to calm DD, they started playing Don’t Stop Believin’, so he serenaded her. She stopped crying for the moment, but I don’t know if that was because she enjoyed DH’s singing or because she was so confused she couldn’t think to keep crying. Lol

“Just a small town girl…”
Finally, the show started! This made DS happy, but DD was still really fussing. I tried to nurse her, but she was totally refusing. So finally, I just put her on my lap facing out so she could see the show, and she stopped!

“Some imagination, huh?”
As always, DS had a blast! He absolutely loves Fantasmic, and goes nuts in the car anytime the music comes on. Just this morning, we heard it on the way home from church and he started dancing along and said, “I just can’t help myself!” lol It’s adorable how much he loves this show.

After grabbing our stroller, we began making our way out of the theater with the masses. We saw an interesting, though not particularly safe looking, way of carrying a kid while we walked.

We got back to the room, and DH helped me get the kids ready for bed before heading back out for the night. There was a MNSSHP that night, and he wanted to watch Hallowishes from the TTC and take some photos.
