YES - Member Services CAN help with Tickets

For the heck of it I called MS, they gave me some prices, no tax included -

Adult AP = $279.00 with DVC discount

Adult 7 day Magic Your Way = $199.00 + $35.00 for PH + $55.00 to make it so it doesnt expire Grand Total = $289.00 (or $269.00 on the allears site)

Adult 3 day Magic Your Way = $171.00 + $35.00 + $10.00 = $216.00

These are "GATE" prices, MS states there will be a pre-arrival discount

I took at look at All Ears

It shows the pre-arrival discount, but the math on the Adult 7 day seems off. What do you guys think

So for my trip, which may not include an additional trip, it looks like my best bet would be to buy the 7 day with PH and no expiration?

Thanks
Kim

If you know you will be returning anytime during the year, I think the standard AP with DVC Discount is the best deal.

Thanks Chuck - I don't need the pluses because I still have 3 left on old tickets. But the reason I am considering the 7 day instead of the 3 day is because if we don't go back in the fall, what ever is left on the 7 day would still be good. So that is why I am comparing the 7 day with PH & no Expiration.

I would be interested to see if the number posted on the allears site are correct. If so, then probably in this instance, the 7 day would be the way to go and not the AP?

Probably.

It looks like the break even for an AP (considering the hopper add ons) will still be about 8 park days.

check mouse savers they seem to have prices that agree with what you heard from MS, but according to their site it doesnt look like the "no Expiration" option will be able to be purchased in advance.

I wonder if you purchase the advance discount tickets, if you then can add on the no expiration option.

Chuck, can you help me out? If I know we won't be returning again after April in 2005(so AP idea is out) and KNOW we'll be doing the parks for 6 days and want the hopper feature, please tell me what I should buy? Should I consider the exp. feature or gamble and not pay for it? In our past trips, my park schedule has gone like clock work, but what if someone get sick? Pay for it, or not? So which ticket would you buy if you were me?

Once you're at 6 days, I would say go ahead and buy the 10 days with no expiration (if it's within your budget) and save the extra days for your next trip. It works out to less per day overall and will make your next trip even more affordable.

PJ

Thanks PJ, but isn't that almost an extra 50.00 per ticket?

Are they still selling the 10 day option? My understanding that 7 day was the max?

SJ - looks like just the 5-7 days have the advanced purchase discount. Now this may be a dumb question, but where do you buy them, is it thru WDW or elsewhere? (but I was looking at allears not mousesavers)

Using prices on mousesavers:

increasing from 6 day to 10 day adult pass = $13 + 6.5% tax

difference in no expirations = $55 per pass

Total increase from 6 to 10 day passes with no expiration = $68.85 for 4 more days in the parks ($17.22/day).

Yes, it's an expense now but you will save on your next trip. As a DVC member, I tend to think ahead. ;)

Mousesavers is still listing them but that's all I know.

Same for us. Right now we buy 7 day PHPs...so I'm sure we will continue to buy the equivalent of that...or the 10 day if it is offered. If we change our vacation strategy, the AP might work better...but that's not happening for a while.

Disney needs to offer all pass options via the website, so that they can be purchased ahead. I'd rather not spend my vacation time waiting in line for tickets.

sjdisneywedding,
this was from another thread:

"hi mousy_in_canada,

what was the ADVANCED PURCHASE PRICE for the 10 day +hopper +noexp for? how did they break it down for you?

just phoned Disney... She told me it was $13.00 less than the at gate ticket, so it was 209 and it would be 196.00 + $100 for the no expiry, and then + $35 for park hopper = $331.00 + tax."

i wonder if we can purchase the APs and get vouchers to be activated on jan. 2nd , now from ms?

Here are my figures (which very well could be wrong)

10 day with PH and no exp. $366.36 including tax or $36.40/day
7 day with PH and no exp $307.78 including tax or $43.96/day
7 day PH plus from Hotwire (right now - I think they may discontinue these soon) $307.00 including tax or $43.10/day

So I think if you're not going to use the plus features you are better off with 10 day. If you want plus features then hotwire is the way to go. :teacher:
