What are the grounds like at POP? Any trees around the pool area? Any quite places for adults to walk? Any scenic areas (except for those big icons?)

I have to book a value, and I chose Pop since I understand it is newer and the buses are better, but I really do not care much for the POP theme and I am thinking about switching to ASM. Would ASM be better for two adults with no children? Which resort has a nicer room?

Do the values have cable TV? :earsboy:

hi,
pop has a nice lake around it.so a nice walk near the lake is great.i have stayed at the all stars and pop twice.i liked pop so much more.many nice quiet scenic area's. as for cable they don't have hbo and cinemax but they have a nice selection of local channels and resort t.v.but we never really watched t.v. that much so maybe someone else can help.i kinda though the whole pop theme would be horrible too.until we went there it was done really nice.i think you will like it.perhaps look at some pictures of pop here.
p.s. don't tell the rest of the board about what i orginally thought about the pop theme before i went there, they will issue a "shoot on site"order.
have fun planning!

It is really hard to tell if people will like Pop. I particularly love it, but on the other hand I can understand when people don't like it. It all depends on your expectations. The bottom line is: It is not a deluxe resort, it is motel style buildings done up Disney style. There are walkways that I found very nice, but someone I worked with went and hated everything about it. I think she was expecting something more deluxe.

There is a lake and trees around the walkways and nicely cut landscape but the main attraction here are the ICONS. Are they tacky? I didn't think so. On the way up on Mears last year a women commented on how tacky the place looked? So there you have it. Everyone views things differently.

Around the Hippie Dippie Pool are palm trees and the atmosphere is very nice, there is a pool bar and Classic Hall nearby.

When we went last year, there was a lot of kids and it was kind of noisy. The noise didn't bother us, but I could understand when others complain about it. If you are light sleeper I suggest you stay away from the pool view in the 60s section. There were people swimming and having a good old time way past midnight.

I'm sorry I can't answer your t.v. question, the only t.v. I watched was the Disney resort channel.

Hope you enjoy your stay.

Go into POP with an open mind and you'll be OK. This past Jan I did a split stay between WL and AKL with my son and GD. I knew I'd be making three more trips this year, so when I went back solo in May it made sense to book a value (since it was only going to be me and I knew I wouldn't be spending any time in the room). I decided on POP, but cringed everytime I looked at pictures of those 'gaudy icons'. I finally decided to rent DVC points for a BWV studio for the middle five days of my trip and spend just the weekends at POP. I was pleasantly surprised at POP. It was really cute and the CMs are the best I've ever seen. It was also the only resort where I've ever gotten towel animals. The whole atmosphere there is fun and upbeat. Everyone (CMs as well as fellow guests) just seemed happy to be there. There were palm trees around the Hippy Dippy Pool. I loved walking out onto the Generation Gap bridge and around the lake. I was on the third floor in a corner room in the 50's building, only 2-3 minutes from Classic Hall and never had any noise issues. I'm afraid I never cut the TV on, so I have no idea what channels were available. Something to keep in mind is that POP has it's own buses, so doesn't stop anywhere, whereas the All Stars all share a bus.

I loved the BWV studio I had for those middle five days so was really surprised that I had absolutely no regrets to be going back to POP for the last two nights of my stay. I enjoyed it so much and talked about it so much when I returned, that my D-I-L asked me if that was where we were going to stay when we went back in Sept. We looked at my pictures and decided to do so, even though I had originally thought about POFQ for them. Just keep it in mind not to expect a deluxe resort and you may be pleasantly surprised, like I was.

I thought the POP grounds were quite nice. I thought the grounds were very well kept and the grounds boardering HourGlass Lake were beautiful. Geration Gap bridge offered some great views of the fireworks from Epcot.

I truly love this resort and considering I am there for sleep and spend the majority of the day in the parks, my wallet loves the resort too.

I could care less about room service, turn down service, balconies or an interior hallway. Pop suits my needs just fine.

Your sure to enjoy this resort!!!

26 days till I return to POP!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the reply. I feel so much better. :grouphug:
( Heck, I will be at the parks everyday anyway.)
