Day 8 (Part 2) – Friday, November 21st, 2003

CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Yecats - Me, myself and I.
Me is Single, 33 (however, other two personalities - myself is about 10 years old and an advid SM freak and the I personality may be about 60 years especially after getting off of the ToT).

Also on board is my new Canon ZR65 Digital Videocamera nicknamed: Handycam, as it was always in my hand.

PLAN FOR THE DAY:
1. Animal Kingdom (Part 1)
2. Typhoon Lagoon
3. Mousekeeping again
4. DTD

Typhoon Lagoon was pretty full at 12:40 but places were still available. I stood in line for a locker, then stood in a very long line for a hamburger and fries. After eating most of the fries and 1/2 the hamburger (think it was at Leaning Palms), I then decide its time to change. Wow the women's changing rooms were full so I had to wait here as well. Finally, I change into my bathing suit, apply lots of sunscreen (lets just say I'm a really white girl with roscea) and then placed everything in the locker. Boy it just fit in the regular locker to, I couldn't get in one more thing if I tried. I had one of these plastic things that you wear around your neck and place money in to keep it dry. I also placed the locker key around my wrist.

I decided as I just finished eating 15 minutes earlier, I would just jump on an innertube and float along on Castaway Creek once around the park. Placed my towel on a chair close to where you enter the creek and away I go. 45 mins later I am back where I started and by the way the water was a bit chilly. Got out and decided to hit those big waves in the surf pool which was warm. Came back, grabbed towel, bought a soft drink and sat under some trees people watching.

Decided to creek my way around the park to ride all 3 stormslides. Got out of that cold creek around the kiddie area and walked over to the falls and started working my way up and down, up and down, up and down. There were never any lines at the top. In about a 30 minute time I had gone down all 3 falls (water in landing pool was warm). Decided to go ahead and risk it on one of the Kowabunga falls and of course came out with a wedgie. I then decided to ride the other solo falls and really enjoyed the rides.

I then decided to snorkel across Shark Reef and did. By this time it was close to 4:00 so I jumped back in that really cold water at Castaway Creek to carry me back to the front. I got out where I needed and quickly got in the wave pool to warm up for a minute, grabbed towel and began walking to the lockers. Well time to leave, got my bag out of the locker and placed clothes over my bathing suit. As I was walking out, a CM was handing everyone those mini donuts as a freeby. Gee got something free at Typhoon Lagoon. I had a wait for the bus back to PORS for at least 20 minutes.

I was relatively damp when I arrived back at PORS. I was hungry so got a pizza and dessert at the Food Court. I originally had a dinner ressie at Boatwrights for 5:30 but scrapped that as I knew I wouldn't be able to bath and dry my hair to be there by that time. (Remember this was the day that my plans were switched as it had rained earlier in the week when I had originally planned to go to Typhoon Lagoon). After eating, decided since I still had on my bathing suit, I could jump in the pool on Ole Man Island. As the pool was very active at this time, I went and stood in line to slide down the slide which was very nice and warm.

At about 6:00 decided to go back to my room as this was my last night. Prior to leaving this morning, I decided to wash another load of clothes (fresh ones when I get home), pack and hit DTD.

MOUSEKEEPING:
Now I forgot to write this in Day 7, when I returned to the room, the mousekeeper had done her usual job but did forget to empty the water out of the ice bucket and leave a new bag.

Well when I got back to my room tonight, she must've known that this was to be my last night here because the only thing the Mousekeeper did was make my bed. She did absolutely nothing else (and yes she did take the $3 I left for her). The trash was still in the trash can, the dirty towels were still left where I left them in the bathroom, water still in water bucket and NO amentites were left at all, also no new towels were provided. Now as it was just me in the room, I still had towels left to use but she had been replacing what I had used on a daily basis. Lets just say she didn't find $3 Saturday morning.

Anyway, took my bath and got dressed. I called Mousekeeping to tell them that what I found when I returned and left all of my dirty towels outside for them and the trash. My hair was wrapped in a towel as I began to walk to the quiet pool area to begin to wash my last load of laundry (no one around this area either). Came back to my room and Mousekeeping had come to claim the towels and trash. Went in, dried hair and began to pack up which in turn made me sad. Went and put laundry in the dryer and waited. Once that was done, I finished packing with exception of what I needed for tomorrow.

It was around 8:30 when I got on the boat to DTD. I wanted to pickup a few more souvenirs, especially at the home store across from Rainforest Cafe. The Mickey icecream scooper is so cute. I had not made it to Pleasure Island this trip and didn't particularly want to go tonight, swimming for quite a while always takes a little out of me and I was tired so I caught the last boat back to PORS.

On the way back the captain was informing us of the changes being made. More boats had been ordered as Saratoga Springs was to be added to the lineup and Old Key West would be using the same boats as well next year. Now I had heard this 2 times now as well as information regarding PORS being refurbished one fourth of the resort at a time and that Disney was still undecided what to do with the treehouse villas. I still love to take this ride to DTD as it is very relaxing. Well arrived safely, took a lovely stroll back to my room and went to sleep for my last night at Port Orleans.

RECAP:
Typhoon Lagoon - :hyper:
Cold water at Castaway Creek -
Body slides - ;)
Slide at Ole Man Island - :bounce:
Mousekeeping -
Packing as it was my last night at PORS -

Stay tuned for Day 9 - Magic Kingdom for the last time.

Did Mousekeeping even apologize for the lousy job they did? Did you complain every time they failed to do their jobs? Was anything left in the room so you could know the name of the person who supposedly cleaned the room (although, if I were going to do a bad job - which is not in my nature - I'd try to leave someone else's name in the room!)? I don't think I'd have kept leaving $3 after all the days you had less than satisfactory service!

I'm still enjoying your trip! Someday I may go solo too!

Wonderful report ~ Thanx for sharing.

Hi Carolyn,

For the most part, Mousekeeping kept forgeting to do one small thing each day until the last night I was there. That is when I called to complain. They did offer to bring towels and amenities but I still had enough towels (as I would only use 2 towels a day and they kept towels stocked for a family of 4). As I was leaving to do laundry, I really didn't want anyone in my room at that point as my valuables were left on the bed so I told them I didn't want/need anything other than the trash and towels taken away from outside the door. I didn't really go on as I had a great trip and truly didn't want to remember myself complaining. When I look back at it now I just found it funny that mid trip the mousekeeper all of a sudden began forgetting little bits and pieces of her job. For the most part, the room was clean up until the end. I have no idea what her name was but sort of wonder if anyone else has experienced this.
