Is there any rhyme or reason as to where the best places to be, times to be etc to get one of the Dreams prizes? Has anyone done a "survey" on this? I know we got the lanyards and pins at Turtle Talk (DCA) at about 10:30 but anyone else gotten items, know people that have gotten items etc? I saw somewhere that around 10:00-10:30 seemed to be a good time to go through the front gates . Also how does the upgrade to the Penthouse at the DRH work? Is that given at the park or am I just going to get REALLY lucky when I check in there next week and they put me in the Suite? Thanks

We have been to Disneylnd probably 25 + times while YOMD has been going. NEVER received anything dream related! Never even saw a member of the dream team yesterday or today and we were in the parks most of the day both days.... :confused3 Did see dream fast passes on several people but not as many in the past.. also saw dream lanyards on several people and the dream ears but that was it...

the suite at the hotel is the family of the day I think. They are picked at random (again - so they say) they are the grand marshals in the parade, get dinner at Blue Bayou, preferred seating for Fantasmics and fireworks and then a night at the hotel....

I would be happy with a dream anything.......

I agree. We were in the parks for 6 days on our last trip in May and never once saw the dream folks, only those who had won walking around with their stuff.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's never won anything. I was really hoping our next trip in November we'll at least see the dream squad, it would be great to win something because we can't make it to DL very often so it be a wonderful momento. Maybe I'll wear a shirt that says Pick me Dream Team!

Technically, there IS a reason you dont see them. If you were one of them, would you want to see a stampede of people running at you? 1, it causes people to run, and maybe run over a kid. 2, they are usually hiding behind a ride exit or enterance.

You can try entering with postcards. A lot of people have been winning Dream Ears or a Dream Lanyard by mailing in the postcards.

Here's another way to "win".

The last time I went to DLR I commented to my newly Bhuddist step-son "I hope that I won't be disappointed if I don't win anything from the Dream Team". He suggested that I turn it around and think about what I could give back to DLR instead of receive.

I decided that I would "give back" to the CMs. (This was inspired in part by Sheryl at window 8 in the AP office. She really can turn the world on with a smile.) I made it a point to smile and say "Thank You" to every CM that I encountered. I made sure to praise any CM who helped me. For example, at the River Belle Terrace I made sure to tell the server how much I enjoyed the Onion Soup and the Monte Cristo. Every time I bought something at a shop I tried to engage the CM in friendly banter instead of treating them like a robot, etc.

I had the BEST time I've ever had a DLR. Long lines didn't bother me. Bratty kids and amourous teenagers didn't bother me. Instead I tried to focus on the positive things surrounding me.

When standing in line, I tried to engage the people in front or behind me in conversation. They didn't always respond, but when they did, the line seemed to move faster and, sometimes, seemed to end too soon. I didn't win a single dream but I felt like I plugged into some DLR happiness vibe where everything really did feel magical.

I know this sounds Polly Ana, but I promise you that if you try it for even a few hours, you'll experience a magic that you'll never get with Dream Ears or a Dream Fast Pass. :grouphug:

PS: Pass it on to your kids. Buy a bag of Disney chocolate coins and gve your child one every time he/she says "Thank You" to a CM.

PSS: I am not a CM. I do not personally know any CMs. I'm just a grateful AP holder. :cool2:

Awe that's lovely. I love it when people talk to me line. I sometimes try but I usually get the OMG, why are you talking to me stare so I like it when other people talk to me.
I always smile and say thank you to the CM's so maybe I'll try something different. Like giving my change as a tip to the cart vendors. Or maybe I'll make my own fancy fast pass holder and I can put my fast passes in it and wear it around my neck so if I see someone with a dream fastpass I won't feel left out.
But I like your thinking, if everyone was more like you and took the time to be friendly to everyone there would be a lot more happy people. :flower3:

We spent four days in the park mid june and were fortunate enough to meet the Dream team twice: once with dream fast passes, once with lanyards and pins. Try the quieter access ways, although we were given lanyards right by the Gc entrance. We did see quite a few people with the dream fast passes - we came by ours near frontier land, but others came across team members in DCA.

We felt duty bound to use every Fp, even though we started with EE at 6.30 am, and had Fantasmic tickets at 9.30, and had just arrived from NZ....so the next day was devoted to recovery! THanks to the Dream team we had a very special trip!

That's true Disneyland spirit right there!!!

If only more people were to do the same as you. Can't say I've ever started conversations in queue lines, but I've had many a friendly chat with CMs.

I think your post was inspirational and will indeed sprinkle some :tink:Disney Magic on any trip to the DLR.

GREAT post!!! :thumbsup2

Whilst we're on the subject on YOAMD, does anyone know anything about it being extended further into 2008? I read a rumor it might be a while back but haven't heard (possibly because I haven't been looking :confused3) anything since. We won't get to the DLR until next summer so would love for it to be continued so maybe we can get dreamed!! :goodvibes
I doubt it though, right? With it not being a raging success like the 50th and people finding it unfair and all?! :sad1:

A set of fast passes for every applicable ride in both parks. They are randomnly distributed by the 'dream team' as part of the year of a million dreams. They have no time windows, so you can use them whenever, but they must be used on the day marked; so that's all the Fp rides in both parks on one day - a lot of fun!

Also - they will only give them to you personally - we had sent my husband as a runner to another ride when we met them, and had to chase after him so he could come back and collect it himself. As you can imagine, he was more than happy!

For the dream FPs they are given out first thing in the morning and seem to be on the less popular attractions.

Sorry Wade, but that makes no sense whatsoever. The dream FP's are for every ride that has FP attached to it, right? So that would mean Space, Indy, Autopia, Splash, RRCP, BTMRR, Soarin, GRR, Screamin, ToT and Mulholland Madness.

I would call those all VERY popular attractions, hence the reason they offer FP.

No, I meant they get given away to those riding the less popular attractions, and first thing in the morning, i.e. You go to ride Gadget's Go Coaster first and the dream team is giving out the FPs at the exit there. Where as if you go on Space Mountain first the chances of them being given out there are very low.

Ahhh, now I see what you were saying. Sorry, I read it wrong. . .

I have heard of people receiving them getting off popular rides like Peter Pan and Toad in the mornings, so not sure if that is always the case.

I think maybe he meant that they are given out on the less popular rides (Where you are awarded the Dream FP, IE: Snow White, Star Tours, etc)

Otherwise, yeah his comment makes no sense, but I doubt that's what he meant.

The only time I ever saw the dream team is coming off of Small World, on our last day. They stopped the family in front of us! I was bummed!

I can see them not wanting to be trampled or to cause people running, but sheesh. Had I not already knew it was going on, I wouldn't have had a clue about the promotion!

So I guess it's just the luck of the draw.
