Year of a Million Dreams info

Okay so I have been searching and asking wdw for info on any special events and so far nothing has been emailed to me. I did read this on Allears new section that was updated on September 10.

"DISNEY WORLD: New for guests: Freebies, comedy and a musical

Disney World in Orlando, Fla., is launching a new program called the Year of a Million Dreams, but you'll have to luck out to take advantage of it.

Starting Oct. 1, Disney cast members will be empowered to grant wishes big and small to guests -- including free dining and ticket upgrades. Starting in January, families visiting the park will be chosen at random to stay atop Cinderella's Castle in Disney's first-ever castle suite."

I was upset to read the part about starting in January families will be chosen.... We will be there at MK on October 1st and we were hoping to at least have the chance to win the Castle suite. But only those starting in January that visit WDW will get that chance. I was so disappointed.

If anyone else has seen any new updates please post them on the disboards for those that are going in October. Thanks for any help...

I have a friend who is interning as an imagaineer and the project he is on is to design the suite. They just started working on the suite not that long ago. It would never be ready by Oct. I am not sure why they didn't start sooner.

I'm not sure why the castle (which is one prize anyone would want) doesn't start with the new celebration.

Disney has been very tight lipped about the whole celebration in general. it starts Oct. 1st and we haven't heard much about it except for a few shows and the new ride with Nemo.

Disney really needs to release more details before the start on Oct. 1st.

I usually see tons of Disney commercials, but I havent seen any... at all... none.... And you'd think they'd have year of a million dreams commercials

We are going at the end of October for our Disneymoon (41days left! WOOHOO!!!) And I was secretly hoping this particular dream might come true. I can't say I'm suprised though, I have heard that they started to renovate the apartment pretty recently and it wouldn't be done for the start of a milion dreams. We are planning a trip back again in March '07 though, (for our anniversary- yeah the Honeymoon is a little late ) Maybe we can wish for then.
I can hardly wait to see what this will be like though - I wil definately be glued to my computer on Oct. 1!

I know we have cast members on the disboards don't we? If so do any of these wonderful guys or girls have any "secret info"? I would love to at least make sure that MK is opening at regular time. We are planning on our day at MK for October 1st anyway but it would be nice to know of any special stuff during the day. So does anyone know for sure of the opening time? It is scheduled to be an early entry for resort guests. I will also keep checking online but I agree about the poor publicity for this event. I was ready to see the castle still beautiful but they cut the Happiest Celebration on Earth short to do this Million Dreams Celebration and not even any info. This is our 10th visit and we try and go every year at least once I am just disappointed with the non-informative way disney has gone. Even our luggage tags we got are from the Happiest Celebration on Earth tags not the new ones (if they even have new ones). I guess we will just have to be surprised.

is it just WDW or does the million dreams include the WD parks worldwide?

I thought that I read somewhere that they will give away 2000 dreams/wishes a day at each park until they have given away a Million...but that might not be correct. It just seems like I read that somewhere.

I removed the list of prizes because it was so long. Please see link from previous post. The prizes are at the bottom.

I saw this list of rules too. At the bottom it states the prizes. They are going to give out 1, 551 prizes per day I think from park open until about 5pm. I didn't take a good look at the prizes yet, but I don't think I saw the lifetime passes in there. We need more info and I'm dissapointed that the castle won't be ready until January too. If the promotion starts Oct. 1st, It should have been ready.

Can't wait for our trip starting Sept. 29, and yes we do plan on being in the madness (albeit happy madness) at MK on Oct. 1! Seriously, it seems you will have to be in the right place at the right time for a prize, but i woul be happy with anything. I also noticed the "batch" provision, which could be prizes awarded at the turnstiles, not just at opening but anytime, in a qeue or a restaurant to 100 or so people at the same time. I also was hoping they would do upgrades say from ASSp to deluxe resorts, space available as a surprise when you checked in or even annual passess muchless lifetime, but there are some really great prizes in there! As for the fastpass prizes, I can't believe they only assigned a $5 value to them.

in plain english, can someone explain to me how this works? we are going in october...will they just randomly pick someone out of the crowd? or do you have to be in a certain place at a certain time? or fill something out when you arrive at the park? I am just confused, I guess.

and, btw, how would you like to be the lucky cm who gets to give stuff away? wonder how that is determined!

I don't think we'll know until October 1st
