We (DH, DD10, and myself) stayed at YC from May 8th through the 13th. We arrived Sunday around noon. We were initially told that our room wasn't ready. DD excitedly asked if we had an upstairs room. The CM said that we were assigned to a first floor room, but she'd see what she could do. She was able to get us a fourth floor room, and it was ready with no wait. Yay! We were surprised and happy to get settled in right away.
Our room was very nice and close to the elevators. It was also right next door to the room we had had when we stayed at YC in 2003. We were in a standard view room, which happily didn't mean a parking lot or dumpster view
. Our view was of a large grassy area outlined by trees. Our room was very clean and fresh-looking. And did they get new beds, or have the beds at YC always been so comfy?! The common areas at YC also seemed very well-kept and fresh-looking. I didn't notice any worn, tired areas inside or outside of our room. The grounds were also gorgeous and again, well-kept and fresh-looking. I loved all of the different flowers in bloom. The smells of jasmine, magnolia, and gardenia were absolutely heavenly!
Our mousekeeper was great, we had no mousekeeping complaints whatsoever. She was friendly and very thorough. She also left us plenty of extra towels, which we really appreciated.
SAB was lots of fun! It was never crowded during the times we swam, how lucky can you get?
We saw Dave (the "relaxation & recreation expert" from the Disney Planning DVD) at YC. Actually, DD spotted him. She said, "Hey, look! There's Dave!" DH & I didn't know who she was talking about at first, until we got a closer look at him. Cool! (Cute little guy
) He was filming a something about a new sweepstakes. I wish I could remember the URL he kept repeating!
On our last day there, they were putting up some boards near SAB, by the rotunda of Yachtsman Steakhouse. They had put some boards around the bottom of the lighthouse the day before, I believe. I don't know what they were doing or how long the boards were going to be up, though.
We had breakfast at Yacht Club Galley on our last morning there. I wish we had tried YCG earlier in the trip so that we could have eaten there more often. What a nice little buffet! And our server was so friendly and attentive. I will definitely return to YCG.
We had a fantastic trip and encountered many truly friendly and accomodating CMs. The overall service was outstanding. As always, I can't wait to return to WDW!
Oh, I almost forgot (I have a hard time remembering anything "bad" about WDW trips): Bus service from MK left a lot to be desired. The three times we rode the bus back to YC from MK, no matter what time we were leaving the park, we waited no less than 35 minutes each time. And it seemed that busses for every resort except ours were running frequently (but isn't that always how it seems?). Anyway, it didn't put a damper on our trip, but there's definitely room for improvement there!
