We were at the YC from 6/29 - 7/3/04. It is a WONDERFUL place and I would not hesitate to go back there again in a second.:cheer2:

When we first arrived, they were refurbishing (painting, cleaning, etc.) on the side by the Yachtman's Steakhouse. They had white netting up to obscure their work from those enjoying the pools. I thought that was very nice as it gave the illusion that no work was going on. They were painting around windows, the outside chairs, decking, etc. By the second day we were there, all the work was done and all the scaffolding and workers were gone.

They had two interior walkways blocked off during the refurbishment, but in no way did it detur from the time we were there.

Any questions, let me know!

Can you tell me how crowded the pools were? We are leaving on friday and have never stayed at the YC and just a little curious on how busy it was. Thanks

The pools didn't seem too crowded at all. We would go to the parks in the morning and come back around noon or two o'clock and go to the pools -- this is when they seem the most crowded. They had allot of activities for the kids in the pool (pool games, volley ball, etc.). The slide was also very popular (my younger DD spent allot of time going down the slide).

However, my older DD and I like to just spend time floating in the pool and being lazy after being in the parks. We never had a problem finding a quiet area of the pool to enjoy.

There are three separate pools -- some are busier than others. The area directly in front of Beaches n'Cream seemed to be very populated.

Be prepared to show a room key for each person in your party -- they were checking and issuing color bands (different colors each day) for resort guests.

You will have a great time --it is a beautiful hotel and the staff at the YC was heads and shoulders above those at the AKL.

One more thing. We went to Goofy's Beach Bash Breakfast on 7/2 and then spent the morning and part of the afternoon at the pool. By 8:00 a.m. there were towels on some of the chairs and by the time we got changed after b'fast and went down to the pool, allot of the chairs were taken by towels. We found chairs easily (2 chairs for the 3 of us).

The morning in the pool was fairly quiet as I think allot of families were going to the parks early in the day. By the time we left the pool around 1:30, more people were showing up. My DD read a sign there that said the pools would hold 1200 people -- I don't know how unless they were standing in them shoulder to shoulder. The pools were never over croweded during our stay and there were always available chairs -- you may have to move them out of the shade and into the sun (or vice versa), but the availability of chairs was not an issue.:cool2:

Thanks for the update PrincessMom! It sounds like the referb. really didn't detract from your experience, and I'm glad to hear it. I'll be arriving at the YC on 8/1 and I'm hoping that they will have things wrapped up by then.
