Of course the flight is in 331 days and I have no return yet!
My sister lives in Ft. Myers. So the first year she was there, 2013, we drove during April vacation from CT. This past April, we tried the autotrain. It was $1900 rt in a sleeper which I thought was great for April. Well my dh didn't like the feeling that we were going to derail at every switch so it was either drive or fly and we all hated the drive.
We only fly delta-dh has been racking up FF miles in them over the years or Jet Blue and since JB does not have April dates yet I have been checking Delta.
It would be great if we could fly into Ft. Myers but that was nearly $100 more and there are 5 of us plus my mom. So be are flying into Tampa.
I checked every nearby airport that we were wiling to go to-Hartford, Providence and white plains. Dh said no to LGA or JFK and I checked Orlando, Tampa, ft. Myers, ft. Lauderdale, Miami and west palm.
Our first weekend is Easter so you know flights will be up there. Wednesday's flight was $116 but I didn't want my kids to miss school on Wednesday. Thursday is a half day and I was ok with that but that was $176 and at one point $210 (this out out of Hartford since that was the cheapest).
So since the sun wakes me at 4:30....sigh.... I remembered at 5:30 to look for Friday the 3rd/Good Friday. I thought for sure it was going to be over $200 one way. Nope $136. Tickets bought. I just checked again and it was $176. I didn't clear the cookies but I checked shortly after I booked and it was $136 then as well.
Now the waiting game for the return.
I am happy to know that when I do the advance search on delta and I do flexible days I can see what the next day is even though I can't book it yet.
The only sad thing is that we will miss DtD next April. Oh well. That was my Disney fix a few weeks ago. We had lunch after we got off the auto train and before we boarded it.
And actually my dh isn't thrilled about the 6:15 am flight but too bad! He will have a week or so at the beach to sleep in the sun.
