Does Yavn's new Newsletter make up for what was said in the previous one?

I think not

it tried to answer questions directly posted here and on the other sites. I am going to be in the minority here but yes I think its great.

For so long they never communicated anything to us, lately those pages have been filled with information. This is literally in response to current events. I welcome it.

But Aengus, Yavn again does not seem to mind completely insulting his clientele. *that is us by the way ;)

"FREE" does not excuse extremely poor customer service and extremely rude "newsletters" - a small handful of hackers does not beget a newsletter lashing out at the general population. And, seth has been in the boz for over 20 years. Hackers dont care about the rules, and probably wont get caught. anyone he bans will more than likely be a legitimate player.

I really think he should stop talking about it before he digs himself into an even bigger hole.

Yes, VMK is "FREE," however, based on my experiences with this particular online endeavor of theirs, I have seen the manner in which management handles things, and I am incredibly unimpressed. I can without a doubt say that I will NEVER pay money for any online Disney program, be it Pirates of the Caribbean, Club Penguin, Toontown, or another game that comes out down the road. I also plan on advising all whom I know that may have an interest in these programs to avoid them at all costs. I think that the people who are running VMK are a little too confident in themselves and are forgetting that word of mouth and recommendations between consumers are very powerful things.

Well I think Yavn did try. It is a start. I do not care about typos I am the typo queen you can find typos missed words etc in everything I write would never ever complain about that.

I never remember them quoting Walt. I still felt I was being told off. But they at least said they try things and some times it does not work.

Flys answer to her magic carpet :goodvibes

I still think they need another Public Relations person trained in dealing with guest concerns etc. Someone that has training in this area Think it would be very helpful. But maybe this is not an option.

Everyone has their gifts Yavn has creates a wonderful game but I still think VMK needs more help in comunications. Like the hosts must have training with kids and take a test to see who patient they are.

I really do not know. maybe we are asking too much really. You can please most of the people half of the time some of the people some of the time and non of the people all of the time :)

EXACTLY!:thumbsup2

I never once felt insulted, but I do understand that I am the obvious minority here.

Everyones opinion is welcome, not really trying to sway anyone. Its just with such anger I am seeing here today, I dont understand why people haven't just sent the most obvious message you can to vmk and its management team. Just quit.

Thats a point, but I for one sadly think that if you quit they really would not care, and if your on the game for the friends you enjoy seeing, then you only be cutting off your own nose to spite your face. But it has been frustrating, and after the big quest to read this newsletter is somewhat insulting to players I think. And some people are angry, your right on that point, and just getting out the frustration here, by sharing with others what they feel. But seeing its a FREE game, I doubt they will care, if even 50% would quit.

actually, working for a company which has channels through Disney, I have sent messages through a friend of mine in Disney Corporate. I fully expect mine to have gone a bit higher that the average letter though, but that does not mean anything will change.

I work in the corporate world too, and all the upper echelon cares about is protecting their jobs. Often that means protecting those that work for you, because their slacking off is seen as your slacking off. That flies right down the chain and everyone who works for them right down to the guy who vaccuums the floors at night will be protected by the guy above him for that reason alone.

You really didnt answer my main question though. The best message you can send is to never use their services anymore. You know me well enough to know I am not targetting you, but I dont remember seeing such anger from so many. Why would anyone who genuinely feels the sentiment still play their game?

I think it is the direct result of the intense stress we all went through. Trying so desparately to help as many as we could. The frustration of not being able to help more. The failure we felt when they stopped the quest early and knowing many people still had not made it through.

The many stories of kids crying; of parents trying to get all the family through to have left one behind. Just a big emotional power keg I think.

My heart broke for many.

After such an event people go two ways either don't care or all the frustation builds up over an intense 3 days and just boils over.

I think if the first newsletter had not been written about the cheaters this would have boiled over very fast. And by now it would only be a mild steam.

But having kids in VMK calling you cheaters and kick kick you scam. Really made the issue worse.

Just fueled it I think.

Shhh, don't say that!

Disney Online Programs are the "future" of the company, as Iger believes, and I own Disney stock.

Let's not take this out on me, ok? :rotfl2:

I have played toontown for over 2 years now and LOVE it.
It is not the same customer service as VMK
I have had to contact them numerous times to help with a tech issue or just switching toons between 2 accounts.
They are ALWAYS polite, VERY informative, helpful and FAST.

Why is it so important for Yavn to mention that VMK was launched as part of a promotion for the 50th celebration?

I have to say this new newsletter does not make up for the last one for this very same reason.

ETA: I just saw your post, Evoulie. I noticed that same thing and it made me kind of worried. He mentions multiple times that the game was created for a celebration that has now ended. Is he hinting that the game may end soon or am I reading too much into it?

I think the newsletter was stressing the word "free" for a reason. I think it's getting to the point that the powers that be are getting frustrated, with all the negativity and complaints this game gets, and may feel that it's not worth the time, money and effort they put forth into maintaining a "free" game that does generate so much negative publicity. I know its about marketing, and it gets us to the parks, and it gets us to buy the pins, ect., ect,. - but there will come a time when they say enough is enough, pull the plug on this game and move on. Just my 2 cents.

Wow, I think that's the most I have said in the three years I have been a member of the DIS.

Bones pirate:

Or the 50th mentions could be a way to make player think if they complain too much, it'll all end. Or as a way of saying they are doing us a big favor by keeping it going, so we should just accept everything they do like good little audio-animatronics would. I have no idea really, but those are my ponderings at the moment. Hopefully the intent is not as bad as my cynical self feels it may be; maybe it is something more like the Disney Co. really will shut it down if complaints are too big, but the solution to that is to address and fix the problems. Not a hard concept.

I play POTC, and there customer service is beyond great, they have some bugs, and have had to contact them, they have a window pop up and you talk to someone live, and there beyond helpful and knowledgable.

Which might mean when you pay for a game, you definately get treated better, versus a FREE game, you recieve a canned response whenever, telling you to read a guide.

It's his way of letting us know that VMK was not supposed to last this long and we should consider ourlselves lucky that it still exists. Basically he says, you don't pay for this service, which was supposed to be gone by now anyways so just stop your complaining.
