Yavn reminds me of Woody Allen.....

You know...the more I hear about what Yavn says, what bothers Yavn, what Yavn doesn't want posted, what he says we "may not post", it REALLY reminds me of when I was a kid and my father worked on some Woody Allen movies. (For you younger people in case you don't know, Woody Allen is a movie writer/producer/director).

I got to meet Woody Allen on several occasions and saw him working, many times. He would go on and on and on about how he didn't like attention, he didn't want anyone taking his picture, he didn't want anyone to leak to the press what was going on during filming, or about his private life. But you know what? Woody Allen, "hiding" behind his oversized sunglasses, was the ONLY one who was always waving his arms and SHOUTING about these things and drawing attention to himself, *not* anyone else. If he truly wanted obscurity, he would've behaved differently.

Well, in my opinion, Yavn and Woody Allen have a lot in common... :lmao:

If Yavn was so concerned about his quest being posted on message boards, he could create a character that nobody knows is him, and test out his Quest. He *knows* the name "Yavn" draws people to him like flies to honey. He *knows* he's being watched and talked about by the VMK players.

Oh, and is he kidding when he says what we "may not post" here on the DIS??? :rolleyes1 That's actually comical!

I really have nothing personal against Yavn... but I just don't understand where he gets off thinking he can tell people what to post, or not post, on a message board.

If he put more time into getting VMK to work properly, and less time worrying about what people are posting on a message board, it would be a much better use of his time and effort, and take some aggravation away from everyone who's been getting constant disconnects and slow-downs in the game.

Wow strong opinion there. I have no idea myself, having never ever seen yavn (grrr) but you might be right. I just figured I'd say it was well-put argument.

:thumbsup2 exactly ;) very well said.

Last time I checked these forums were owned by Pete Werner not "Yavn"won't use his real name ;)

Before I met and married my husband I dated a musician and his favorite saying was "any publicity is good publicity" hmmm I think alot of people in the entertainment field live by that creedo

A very interesting thought, Lady Cape. Sometimes I think it would be hard to be "Yavn." Like Walt when he walked through Disneyland, he can't catch a break. But he also has to enjoy the adulation.

Personally, I'm more sickened by all the Yavn groupies than bothered by Yavn himself. I mean, get a life you people, would ya?

But the real question is.... Are flies really drawn to honey? You would think so. Honey is so, so sweet and tasty. But wouldn't their little fly-feet get stuck? And then they'd be all, "help me, help me!" in that high squeaky voice that flies have. People, I gots to know!

You know Rick you are exactly right and one thing that really really bothers me is that our dear Mr.Yavn wants no help posted on the boards but yet he personally walks some players through the quests....I am sorry but that is favortism and it really needs to stop!

Changing the credits needed in the quests for tasks was just mean spirited he knows he has just made it almost impossible for alot of players to ever complete and he did that I feel in retaliation for the clues and help that has been posted. Which really lacks that DISNEY quaility of MAGIC now doesn't it.

He has registered here on the DIS and I invite him yet again to post if he feels that anything said has been unjust. I do not see that happening anytime soon.

these opinions are mine and mine alone and do not reflect the owners and managment of the DIS. ;) and they will probably land me in a big vat of hot water with the Yavn faithful yet again hey but what is new!

Cape,

Girl - You are my hero.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Dude, normally I felt bad for the guy when he like you all said, couldn't catch a break, and now this thread, wow. If I were him reading it, I'd probably get really sad. Sure we're giving our monitors obscene gestures and dirty looks for slowness and dc's, but why attack him? Because he doesn't want his own personal quest answers published? Not good enough people. I'm guessing a pretty big number of people have a hand in creating VMK, and he's just one that has the job of presenting new stuff and making it fun to get it... oh yeah, and has his name on a sci-fi diner car. That rocks.

I rarely see him in the game, and I'm always way too busy with my own explorations to visit many of his or staff games and rooms, but I can definitily relate to the guy with his, "Please don't post answers to my quest". Making a good solid quest takes alot of work (probably more work than making VMK itself!), from getting cool pictures for it to putting prizes in and testing them (and with the lovely slowness and dc's), it can take forever. If I were him and saw a quest I put together that offered great stuff made into a cakewalk, I'd probably say forget that too. He just had the decency to give the heads up.

hi Tampa

nice to see you posting...as you can tell by my post I am more concerned about how he handles the VMK Game Quests than his own personal quest.

If that makes him sad that others think he behaved badly or like a spoiled child then so be it. That is what he did.

Making a perfect score of 300,000 a goal for one of the quests was mean and extremely cruel. It was a very un masked gesture of getting back at players for posting the answers and helping with the Quests....but then he himself walked certain people through the quests. :rolleyes1

Another thing some answers were posted on other sites within minutes of the game opening, where can I ask did they come from??? NO one is that GOOD!!!! I smell a rat.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

Yes he is not the only producer but I beleive he is the main producer and to whom all others answer too. He is the one who puts himself out there so he is the one who takes the HEAT.

All I have to say is that if he does not like that HEAT then he should not provide the fuel for the fire.

There is a lot of favortism in VMK with Yavn and the hosts. I mean remember the Stitch hat? Why was one player given it? Same for the Safari chair. I remember the stir that caused. It doesn't seem to happen as much now or maybe there are just so many people playing we don't notice it as much but I remember Yavn used to gift things a few days before it would come out in the stores.

It seems to be Community Leaders winning the room competition each week. I am NOT saying they do not deserve it. I just think that are allowed to have staff as friends that that has to help.

But anywhere in life there is favortism starting from a teachers pet to the you know what kisser at the office :bitelip: I got used to it a long time ago lol!

But I do love the Woody Allen comparison he is a talented director but ewww that man has always grossed me out even since he did WHAT with his daughter!

My mother use to say if you don't have anything nice to say ...
then come sit by me.
:lmao:

I have not been very impress with Yavn since the begining.

What did/does your dad do?

I remember liking Manhattan very much when it came out. I haven't seen a Woody Allen movie for years; his tone got too annoying over time.

Just like vmk.....there is always ways to get around something;)

I do have to say something, when they start a game like this of course they are going to have fourms/websites about it. It is also people's nature to tell about cheats, and different things that they learned about the game. They may not like it but they can't do any thing about it. If they even try to buy or shut down these fourms/websites, soon enough more will spring up.

Well put, Mal! I cannot imagine any "Yavn faithful" after what he has done. Except that if he changed the green quest fireworks to 300,000, that is not "almost" impossible; it is absolutely impossible! That just shows more favoritism to the ones who were able to complete the quest before he changed it!

Because that is so blatantly mean-spirited, not to mention seemingly insane (in both setting a point level that cannot be reached without hacking, and in thinking he can dictate what is posted on these boards), he must be doing it for the attention as SeaSpray suggests.

All we can do is maintain our helpful spirit of cooperation no matter how he tries to twist and manipulate things.

Cheers :)
