Which is better? We are not picky eaters and love all kinds of food. On the DDP, so cost is not an issue. This will be the first year we are thinking of having table service in AK.

my vote is yak & yeti. we've dined here 3 times now and we love it! i always get the beef w/shrimp and they have this plum sauce that is so good! the ribs are also good there. i love the pineapple fried wonton dessert, yummy! we went to the tusker house once and that was enough, never again. they have tofu and couscous on their buffet!! no thanks! yak & yeti is way better and the restaurant is much prettier!

Can't go wrong either way. Some folks think of Tusker as "Boma Junior", but the Tusker folks themselves think of it as "Boma Plus". As a buffet, they have a great selection of both African themes and "everyday" food - you can sample a bit of everything, while at Yak & Yeti you're ordering one dish.

Both also have interesting decorations.

If it matters, I find I have always had to wait a while at Y&Y, even though I have an ADR and I go in the slower seasons.

If you want a buffet, go to Boma.

If you want to eat in the Animal Kingdom, go to Yak & Yeti.

At least that's what I plan to do. Since your on the DDP this is also good value for your credit, Boma is a little more expensive than Tuskers and you get the added benefit of visiting the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We had lunch at TH the last time we were in WDW (haven't been to Y&Y) and, honestly, I wasn't OVERLY impressed by the buffet items.

Everything I have read and seen about Y&Y make me think it would be a better choice than TH.

Yak and Yeti was probably our favorite and most memorable meals at WDW back in 2008.

What did I have? Got me...but I DO remember it was incredible :lmao: Knowing me I probably had the ribs. I do remember someone had the honey chicken which was amazing too

There were four of us- and we all tasted each other's dishes- everyone loved what they ordered.

I've never been to Tusker House, so I guess this is a one-sided opinion- but we do love the Yak and Yeti...

Just don't do Expedition Everest right afterwards, or you may get more "Yak" than you want!

Yak and Yeti is one of my favorites. Tusker House is one of my least favorites. Actually, Im lying..Tusker House is my absolute least favorite out of every restaurabnt in the "World". BUT..the characters are great! If you want toast and juice for breakfast, you cant go wrong there..anything else, bring some mints to get the awful taste out of your mouth. ;)

Thanks for the opinions everyone. Leaning towards Yak and Yetti now.

We did both, this past February, with a party of 8, and it was pretty-much unanimous: Tusker House: Lots of great stuff for everyone. Yak & Yeti has better ambiance I suppose, but the food is not as good, in our family's experience.

My vote is for yak and yeti. One of the best meals, with the best service I have had at WDW. Fantastic! I can't speak for Tusker, though. I haven't eaten there.

I don't like Yak and Yeti at all, but we had a wonderful meal at Tusker House.

We absolutely love Tusker House! It has become a must-do for every trip! Lots of variety on the buffet, very good service, and nice decor!

Thanks for the input (and for posing the question, OP!) I am in the same boat--I was reading reviews and almost everyone compared Tusker House to Boma. We LOVE Boma, but we have an ADR there another night.

Maybe we should try Y&Y this time instead of Tusker House!

I didn't think my main course at Yak & Yeti was too amazing. But the pineapple wonton dessert is really delicious, and I'm thinking of going back just to have it again.

Haven't been to Tusker House since it became table service, but I'd probably choose Yak & Yeti. Characters aren't at TH for lunch/dinner anyway, and if you want an American buffet with some interesting choices, Boma seems to have a much bigger selection.

Tusker House has a yummy buffet.
Decor is very nice.

Get your fast pass for Safari before you sit down and time should come up when you are done lunch. Locations work well for that.

Time your reservation right and get good seats for Finding Nemo show.

And, did I mention the food is great?!

Yak & Yeti is one of my faves in all the world! Great decor and atmosphere and we loooooooove the food. The fried green beans, tempura shrimp, and cream cheese wontons are superb. Always available as a walk-up for us during daytrips to AK, too. :thumbsup2

We were in the same boat trying to decide what sit-down dinner to do at AK (we normally just make a late ADR for a resort restaurant) I printed out the menus from online and we sat and compared them... DM was leaning toward Tusker House until we read the menus and we unanimously decided to go with Yak & Yeti.

OK, reading this thread got me second guessing my Tusker House reservation! I have a 1:00 reservation for lunch at Tusker House which includes tickets to the Nemo show. I'm going Thanksgiving week, so crowd levels (and wait times for the Nemo show) will be high.

Given this additional fact, which do you think I should choose?
