Hi Everyone!

In December I am staying for a week at the Poly with 18
family members

On the Sunday that we are there we have scheduled a day at AK starting with Tusker House breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

The other people in our group will probably take mid afternoon breaks every day so most will go back to the Poly around 2:00 for naps etc. but DH, DD, DS and I will not need breaks (we have the oldest kids in the group)

Originally we had 6:15 p.m. dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe (for everyone) ADR but now DH and I are thinking we want to stay at AK until closing (6:00 p.m.) and maybe eat at Yak and Yeti.

What would you do? Stay in the park until closing and eat at Yak and Yeti or leave the park before closing to make it to the GFC by 6:00?

It kind of depends on what ride(s) and shows you want to do at Animal Kingdom. Last September, we had a sit down lunch at Tusker House so we could take advantage of the Finding Nemo show deal, but even with that we had a tough time fitting in the Safari, Festival of the Lion King, Expedition Everest, and the Finding Nemo show. We did not make it out of Conservation Station or get to walk around the animal trails.

If it were me, I would figure out what you really want to ride/see at Animal Kingdom and determine if you could do it in the time you have. The park is pretty spread out and getting from one side to the other takes a bit of time.

Yak & Yeti is very highly rated and I recommend it if you like Asian style food.

Also, that might afford yourself some alone time at the park with DH!

GFC is alright. Food is definitely better at Y&Y.

The GFC was the worst food I have ever eaten. We were on the DDP and it was our last night. None of us finished it was that bad!!! We love the Yak and Yeti and go every time we are in AK. I would also look into a Grand Gathering at the Tusker House since you have so many in your party. They serve a buffet meal, a private safari and bring animals out during dinner. I'm not sure which nights it is offered.

Y&Y is one of the best restaurants on the property, IMO.

The food ranges from "good" (honey chicken) to *incredible* (the chinese spare ribs).

Combine the ribs with the lettuce wraps appy and it's one fantastic meal, theme park or not...

I've never eaten there but I vote for Yak and Yeti only because we had a very poor experience at the GFC last year. (And we were a larger group.) It was a combination of poor service and poor food - steaks were so fatty and tough they were almost inedible, although my husband said his salmon was okay - nothing special. There was no excuse for the poor service - although we were a group of 12 there was only one other family in the restaurant so they definitely weren't too busy. It was the only bad meal we had our whole vacation. Very disappointed after hearing good things about it.

Y&Y for us too - don't forget to leave room for dessert. The 3-sorbet sampler was fabulous!

I vote for Grand Floridian. Our steaks were tender and flavorful. Service and atmosphere were excellent.
