DVD Player <~~~ I found this at the BX on base for only $38.00 today, it was marked down, I'm thinking by accident since it said it had no battery so it was on clearance and then another 75% off of that amount, but it had the battery, charger, AC adaptor, Car charger, etc... I am stoked, this will be great for our drives to Disney... More money for other things, now if I only had a car to put it in.

Wow, what is BX ? i dont think i have heard of it, that would be great to have one of those do they have anymore?:earseek:

Isn't the BX the Air Force/Army one? I think the PX is the department store on Navy bases?

THere is a BX at McGuire/Ft. Dix, and I have been there. The one nice thing is that you get charged no sales tax. You do need military ID to purchase anything.

I sometimes go with my mom/dad/sisters. They have to sign me in as a civilian, and I have to give them cash or write them a check for the purchase. -- (at least this was the procedure last year there)

They do have some decent deals, especially if you want a large ticket item.

BX= I think it means Base Exchange, but I could be wrong
There are also called AAFES. (At least the bags I have gotten say AAFES on them)-- in true military fashion, AAFES is an acronym, but I don't know what it all means.

Army Air Force Exchange Service. That is also known as the PX.

BX is Navy.

They often have some really good deals, and it's nice not to have to pay tax. We are right next to a military base, and my husband's family is military so we used to go quite often.

AAFES--Army Air Force Exchange Service

BX--is on AirForce Bases (Base Exchange)
PX--is on Army Posts (Post Exchange)

ahhhhh--I miss those days!!!

See I just KNEW AAFES stood for sometthing, I thought it was Army/Air Force but just couldn't remember..

My mom/dad just call it the exchange.

I thought my post might be silly, but I couldn't help but share my good deal, I'm so excited. Planning on going and watching a movie on it shortly. They do have some excellent clearance there, Father's Day Weekend they had racks and racks of clothing, 50 to 75% off, then an additional %25 of the dicounted price... WOW! I got some very nice PJ's for $3.00! Got the girls some clothes too. Only problem is the men's clothing, only carry up to size 38, sometimes 40's... urgh!

Oh well!

Yes it's the BX as far as I know, or AAFES, or the Exchange. But their sales are AAFES wide, so if you ever see a good deal at an AAFES, it more than likely is on sale elsewhere.

I'm a Navy Brat and we always called it the "Ships Store".

Maybe, that is just in Lakehurst, NJ

Great find! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

LOL at the BX/PX/AAFES/etc. There are so many acronyms and abbreviations in military life! The Navy one is actually NEX.
:)
