Kids are fine at all of Disney's signatures as long as they are well behaved and happy to sit through a 90 minute meal. We've eaten at YSH 5-6 times and I've found it to be one of the quieter signatures. I'm not a huge meat eater and did not like the new york or the ribeye but the filet was nice. I love their bread, their sides and the desserts. They also have a decent wine selection.

Well, we are carnivores! It's one of our favorite steakhouses, including DS12. They have very good sides, sauteed mushrooms in cabernet, spinach etc. your typical steakhouse sides. Interestingly enough, some people complain about the meat being too fatty, but that's the nature of the beast, marbleling is what makes a cowboy steak/rib eye worth the price and worth eating. The filet is a much less fatty piece of meat but lacks flavor IMO, however they have something to please every palate!

As the previous poster stated, rather than the loud atmosphere of Le Cellier, Yachtmen has a much nicer ambiance and kids are welcome. We enjoy it, and will enjoy it again this June.

Well said. We've only dined there 2-3 times, but we didn't even consider going with the kids until they were able to sit through longer meals elsewhere.
While we have never seen alot of kids there on our visits to YS, the ones we have seen have been very well behaved.
The bread and sides are indeed excellent!:thumbsup2

Yes there is a dress code at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. As a Signature Restaurant it has a "Business Casual" dress code. However Disney does not really enforce their dress codes very stringently.
That said, it is an upscale restaurant. We always return to our room and freshen up and change before we head to a nicer restaurant. I would wear nice slacks and a blouse with fancy sandals and DH and DS wear dress shorts and collared sports shirts.
I know we are in the minority here on the DIS, but we do not enjoy the YSH. After 3 attempts we will not return.
It is a beautiful restaurant and the service is great. We did not care for our meals. In our opinion everything was sauced/spiced too heavily, masking the flavor of the food itself.
Have a Great Trip.

We ate here for the first time in December and we loved it! We leave Friday and are going back this Sunday, cannot wait! I had the filet and DH had the NY strip. Both were excellent. DH also had the scallops appetizer which he loved. Creme brulee, awesome. Probably one of the best on property. We saw lots of kids while we were there and it was not a problem at all. No need for us ever to go back to Le Cellier now. ;)

We love Yachtsman Steakhouse! We never dress up either; shorts and a t-shirt for Mom & I and shorts & polos for the boys.
