Yachtsman Steakhouse over Cali Grill or Narcoossee's?

Yachtsman Steakhouse, California Grill and Narcoossee's are 2TC on the Dining Plan.

I have been to Narcoossee's 4 times. Love it. Family was happy the Stark and Lobster was back. Enjoy the fireworks by the waters.

Been to California Grill twice. Love the view. And the fireworks. Of coarse the food.

Never been to Yachtsman Steakhouse. Now will be staying at Yacht Club. Thought may be time to try.

How would rank those three restaurants?
For Food?
Atmosphere?
Fireworks?
Value?

I don't eat seafood but my family does. Will they miss it at Yachtsman Steakhouse?
How are the steaks? Which has the best?
Despite the variety, we seem to enjoy the menu at Narcoossee's as much as CA Grill.

However, if you've never been - I'd suggest going to CA Grill once in order to make up your own mind.

The rooms are very different. There is an elegance to CA Grill, while Narcoossee's is like an upscale New England'y neighborhood seafood restaurant. CA Grill is seemingly busier since the dining room is more open & bigger.

The fireworks are marginally better from Narcoossee's (because it's closer to parallel with Main Street), but the overall view from CA Grill is better - because you can see the MK.

Yachtsman is fine. I'd consider eating there if staying at Boardwalk, but food at Swan & Dolphin is better (albeit, they do not take the DDP).

Steak at Shula's is superior.

Without a doubt Yachtsman is better than Cali Grill or Narcoosees. Cali grill has not been the same since about 5 months post renovation...and I am speaking to the kitchen. Something needs done there for sure. I have had some pretty poor experiences at Narcoosees of late so I have stayed away from this location as well.

I am seeing a trend that Disney is cutting costs at Signature Dining that is getting me a bit concerned. IMO Yachtsman and Monsieur Paul are the two best that Disney has to offer at the moment. Flying Fish was really good but there again it seems like they are handcuffing the chef for a better profit margin. I hope this trend stops soon.

We've eaten at all three several times and enjoyed each. However, most recently we dined at California Grill (the first week of December). My wife's scallops were excellent--consistent with previous visit's quality. My braised pork shank came out very cool. I sent it back and it was returned lukewarm. And, it was a tiny portion... after the meal I was still hungry. It's not like pork shank is an expensive ingredient. You'd think for a $47 dish they could have at least put on more than a couple tablespoons of Polenta. I have higher expectations for a meal that when all in was $300 for the two of us. We're not going back to California Grill for a while.

If you want steak, I'd go with Yachtsman's of if seafood tops your list, I'd go with Narcoosees.

Good luck.

We have been to all three, and yachtsman is our favorite by far. Of the 12 times or so that we have been there, 9 times have been fabulous, one time fair, one time bad and one time so horrendous they comped us the whole meal. When they are on their game, the food and service are memorable,

Interesting question. First let me say that I rank restaurants by food and service primarily. No amount of "atmosphere" or view or fireworks compensates for below par food and service. IMHO, CG relies heavily on its view and fireworks. Narcoossee less so. YSH has no fireworks or a real view. So, I'd put YSH on the top of my list.

Now, since the OP has already eaten at CG and Narcoossee multiple times but never been to YSH I'd suggest it is high time for them to give it a try. We've always enjoyed our meal there and found their service to be excellent.

Where I agree that of course, no amount of "atmosphere" or view compensates for bad food or service, all things being equal it can certainly enhance the experience.

As you can see you will get a wide range of opinions. We have never had a bad meal at Yachtsman, and service has always been good. I have given California Grill multiple chances and just do not like the food at all, although we have always had good service. Narcoossee's we tried once and had horrible food and service, plus I did not like the set up of the restaurant at all, so we are not keen to return any time soon.

i have pretty much the same thoughts. We have been to California Grill 4 times I think. Twice we have been seated in the Wine Room, I think it is called. Quieter than the main dining room, but we went there for the theme park views, not the views from that side of the resort. We are meat & potatoes types, so the food there isn't our favorite. We will be skipping it for awhile.

My DH loves the fillet at Narcoossee's. But I'm not big on the atmosphere. Yes you can see the castle & fireworks from your table if you 're seated right. But we have also been seated on the upper level next to the bar several times. And I just don't like paying for a deluxe meal but being seated in a bar. So we go there every 2 or 3 years.

Now we love Yachtsman's. We have been going every trip for 10 - 12 years now. We have never had bad service. There are a few waiters we have had several times & they are amazing. We don't like wait staff hanging around constantly but they check in just enough & are friendly & helpful. While there is no fireworks view, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice & relaxing. Plus lots of room between the tables so you don't feel like you are eating with strangers at your table. The steaks are amazing & the sides always delicious. Nice variety on the menu too, something for everyone.

So my vote is for Yachtsman's!
