I am looking forward to our first meal at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. What are some of your favorite menu items there?

honestly this place was the most forgettable restaurant we ate at. I don't remember anything being that great.

We eat at Yachtsmen every year, sometimes twice on our two week visit.
Appetizers,I love their Caesar Salad, which was given to us accidentaly and it was free, and the best.
My DH LOVES the Lobster Bisque

Entrees, I always get the filet, w/ augratin potatoes, YUMMY
MY DH gets a steak, dont remember which, and he same potatoes.

My kids love the macand cheese and the puzzle dessert.

We thought it was pretty forgettable too when we dined there Memorial Day weekend. The service was up and down compared to other signature restaurants and the steak was very plain when compared to California Grill or Jinkos. Also, the scallop appetizer I looked forward to is now off the menu.

I got the beef tartar. That was quite good, and I believe the Porterhouse steak (altho could've gotten the ribeye).

It was our first meal on our last trip, I'm much more of a steak person then my wife, and I def enjoyed it.

Uh Oh, that doesn't sound good, I made an ADR here because my DH has always wanted to try Yachtsman's Steakhouse and since we are on DxDDP I figured why not. California Grill (our favorite signature restaurant) has one of the best steaks on property, so it will be very interesting to see how Yachtsman's compares to that.

My husband enjoyed his steak, I loved loved the goat cheese mac n cheese. Our kids did love the paint your dessert thing. We thought it was good not the best but not the worst, I liked it better than Le Cellier

They don't serve my favorite dish anymore (chateau briand for two), so we don't go there anymore. I believe that the last time we had this dish there was 1998 or 1999, so that goes way back.

I'm not a filet person (you can get those anywhere) but it's better than the other cuts I've had here (New York and ribeye). The last few visits I've had the filet and it's been fine.

Out of the current appetizers, I have enjoyed the beef tartare. The Caesar salad was ordinary. The bisque is not bad. The cheese plate was not as good as I've had at other Disney signatures but it's decent.

All of the sides have been good, as well as the bread.

Out of the desserts, my favorite here has been the creme brulee. The trio of chocolate is not bad either.

The thing that really wowed me when I ate there in January was a seasonal salad of greens, pears, prosciutto, Parmigiano-Reggiano and a vanilla vinaigrette. It was amazing and if it were available all year, I think I might camp out at the Crew's Cup Lounge and have it for lunch every day. The lobster bisque, the scallop appetizer and all of the entrées that our party of four had that evening were excellent, too. We all sampled from each others' selections and I think the braised short ribs with celery root mash were a definite winner.

We love YSH. Our favorite items? Lobster bisque & the Filet. ...and the pull-apart onion rolls slathered with roasted garlic and butter. :thumbsup2

I'm the lone dissenter on the filet. I ordered that when I ate at the Crew's Cup Lounge attached to the restaurant this past December, and I was disappointed in it.

The quality of the meat was ordinary compared to the $40 price tag of the meat. I expected quality I can find in steakhouses here in Chicago. It didn't make the cut, so to speak. The side dishes and bread service almost made up for that, but I can't say I would go back there for anything other than appetizers and the cheese plate now.

The filet I had at Shula's a few weeks ago was superior, but unfortunately, the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin don't participate in the Disney Dining Plan.

We love Yachtsman! It is a lovely restaurant! I have had the porterhouse which is fabulous, but very big. The last time we dined there I had the cowboy steak, which was a ribeye, it was also huge, but soooo delicious!

This is sad to hear (but with all the awful Disney menu changes, not surprising). We ate this on our trip 2+ years ago and it was really good. We were staying at BC and it was the final meal of our trip and it was a surprise hit.
They keep taking away everything we like.:headache:

I am a little bummed hearing the bad reviews. We have a adr here for my DH's birthday in November. I try to remember that everyone has different taste. Some people really bash on Le Cellier and we love it. To each his own. We have never been here so we will give it a try.

To each his own.

Exactly! Everyone has their opinion, and everyone's going to catch and off night or a poor server. I wouldn't let someone else's experience, to which they bring their own history and expectations, affect my plans!

To the question at hand: DH and I love Yachtsman's. Last year we had the lobster bisque and mozzarella/tomato appetizers. We devoured them. I see that the mozz/tom is still on there and am sorely tempted, even though I like to try something new whenever possible. But it was sooo good!

We both had the porterhouse and potato gratin which, I'm ashamed to say, we tore into and left little on our plates (and that's a whole lotta animal, right there). I also had the creamed spinach which was delectable.

The previous year, I had the seafood salad app which was really yummy and I believe I had the filet and that was pretty good - as far as filets go, it was very well prepared. Not memorable, though, but there's not much you can do to a filet either.

And I had the cheese plate for dessert and let me tell you, it was delicious and thus started my obsession with cheese plates! I'll probably have that again this year for dessert as I don't recall any of their desserts making my hair fly back or anything.

I liked this restaurant it wasn't the best steak I have ever had but everything was very good and we did have very good service. The bread service was great I loved the butter with olive oil sea salt and balsamic it was fantastic and appealed to DH (a bread and olive oil person) and me ( a bread and butter person) I had the spare ribs which were wonderful they were tender and flavorful with a wonderful sauce, I also loved the side of mushrooms and have made them at home since then.

I agree - this salad was the absolute most perfect blending of flavors ever! and I don't really like salads...

The steaks are good, no complaints. (I usually do the ribeye)

The sauteed mushrooms and creamed spinach, yummy, The Steak Tartar, fantastic, and their creme brulee is tasty!

Shula's is wonderful but it's too pricy, just my opinion!

As far as service we usually book ADR's for 7:45 or 8pm and the crowds are thinning out by then, makes for a quieter, more enjoyable dinner!

If you read my comments, the only thing that disappointed me was the filet. I really enjoyed the bread service and the side dishes. Maybe if you ordered a different cut of meat, it might be better than the filet. I'm just sharing my opinion of the quality of that cut of meat served to me. Your experience may be different.
