Yacht Club/water view after Hard Rock Hotel/club level?

Since we just sold our house and will be *homeless* at the time of our vacation we decided to extend it and stop at Universal for 5 days before going to WDW. I found a great rate of 279/night with 4th night free for the Hard Rock Hotel club level so I booked it!

We've never stayed on a concierge or club level before and I'm so excited! But do you think that after staying at the club level we'll be spolied and wish we would've done concierge at the Yacht Club too?

We have an AP rate for the YC, if we change our mind do you think we could upgrade at check in? Or should I do it now? How much more do you think it will be and do they even have an AP rate for concierge? Do all the concierge rooms have a water view because we love the balcony and really want a water view.

Any opinions?

Thank you in advance for your help!!

Concierge, IMO, is very nice. They do offer AP rates on concierge rooms, but if that allotment of AP rooms is booked, then no more can be offered. My guess is upgrading at check-in would be close to $100 more per night at the YC.

Not all concierge rooms are water view. Some are standard view and some garden as well. What *I* would do is call CRO and check on AP rates for YC Concierge Waterview and see if that would be within your budget.

I've stayed at the Hard Rock on the Club Level and it was great. They let you check out CDs and take them back to your room. The breakfast is the standard muffin - cereal deal. They have soda and water out all day. From 4-7 they have veggies and cheese and all you can drink! From what I've been reading about Disney Hotel's Concierge level, it sounds a lot better than the Hard Rock. I'm staying at WL May 24 - May 29 on the Concierge level. So, I guess I will find out soon.

All I can say is that we stayed at Hard Rock CL at Christmas and then went to the Swan CL for the rest of our trip. The Hard Rock can't hold a candle to the Swan and I bet the other disney resorts either. IMO, I wouldn't stay CL at HR again, but wouldn't go without it at Disney if I could afford it. If you decide to go CL at the YC, you will be amazed at the difference in the two. If you can only do one, do disney! Also, call and ask, as Topper suggests.

I agree with ozziewags! I stayed at the Hard Rock club rooms twice and was not that impressed. The club room is rather small and the staff rather "aloof". The food is not great either. The only plus is that they offer wine and beer in the evening. Breakfast is muffins, danish, cereal. Evening treats were the biggest dissapointment, veggies and dip and cheese and crackers.

I have stayed at the AKL, Grand Floridian Main building and Poly in concierge and they are heads and above Hard Rock. (I do LOVE the Hard Rock but not the club level!) The AKL was the best and Poly second. If it were me I would book a regular hard rock room at the entertainment rate (just buy an entertainment book for about $30) You can usually get a room for about $100 per night. Then join the Loews Membership program and get an automatic upgrade to pool view or if you are lucky to club level or suite. (REMEMBER..all universal hotel guests receive priority seating at Citywalk and most importantly..express access to rides!)THEN.. I would spend the big bucks for the disney concierge room. The level of service is SO much better than the hard rock (good tables at restaurants, hard to get priority seating, great food, cast members who are happy to help, etc).
