Hello everyone here on the Resorts Board - hope you are all looking forward to Easter Breaks etc.

I wonder if anyone would be able to advise me on Yacht Club rooms. I have booked a "package" holiday to YC from 4th May for a week (not long to go now) I made a request at time of booking for a king size bed and had not made any special requests for Water View or anything I just booked standard.

I was going to fax to the hotel before hand are there any king rooms that are better than others?

Any advice given is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Fantasia Sam !!!

You've made a great decision by staying at the YC. It's one of my favorites. We stayed at the YC Concierge in Dec. and just loved it. We were in room 5161 and had the MOST incredible view.

If you go to Joe Cool's YC/BC thread at the top of these posts, he has some wonderful information there. Including room maps. The chances are very slim of getting an upgrade from Standard to Lagoon View, but it certainly doesn't hurt to ask. Go ahead and fax a request a couple of days before you go. I would very nicely ask for a room on the 4th floor, towards the "Swan/Dolphin side of the building. Rooms 4161, 4163, 4057-4065 will have spectacular views.

You will LOVE the fact that you can walk to Epcot in about 5 minutes !!!! DH and I would pop over to England for a couple of Bass Ales and pop back to our room. It was terrific.

Have a wonderful holiday !!!

The standard rooms overlooking the Wedding Gazebo are terrific!

We requested a king (siko) bed room with standard view and we got room 4059 with a direct view of the Boardwalk (see link below for pictures of the room and view)

make sure to request the "lakeside of the resort"!! that way you will get a nice view no matter what room! It's the rooms in the front of the YC that have the parking lot views! If you are on the "lakeside" the views are all very nice!!!!!!!! :)
have a great time!!!
the YC is awesome!!!!!!!!! :)

I have booked a waterview room at the YC - do you all consider this a waste of $$ ? Should I go ahead and book a standard room and just request "lake-side" of the resort? Sounds like I'd be getting the same type of room for a whole lot less money

Last summer when we stayed at the YC we had room 5183. It was quite possibly the best view in the entire hotel, we could see the boardwalk (which looked fantastic at night) as well as part of a small garden and a tiny bit of the pool.

Just my personal preference....but I've always gone ahead and paid the extra $$$ for a room with a good view. Now a lot of people will say "Oh but we don't spend enough time in our room" If you're one of them, don't spend the $$$.

I'm one of those people that gets up at the crack of dawn and sits on the balcony and watches WDW wake up. It's a wonderful experience for me and worth the $$.

Requesting a lakeside view doesn't mean you'll get one. So I don't risk it and book the Lagoon view. Just all really depends on what's important to you.

Hope this helps.

At the YC, if you want "lake view" and you want to be able to see the lake.... avoid rooms 3043-3065, and possibly 3017-3027. These rooms have a view of the trees. We requested "lake view" last year and we were assigned to room 3055. Since we were paying the difference for the view, I asked to be moved. Of course, it was still early in the day and they had rooms available to do this. We were moved to the very end (quite a hike!) to a wonderful room (3003) with a great view! If you pay extra for a view and you aren't happy with it, ask to be changed.
One more thing, the second floor rooms that are below the ones to avoid, may have the same tree view.

Thanks for the room numbers to avoid! (I've made note :) )
Figmentvi - the view is very important to me as this is DH and my first trip to Disney WITHOUT the kids in tow. We plan on spending leisurely mornings out on the balcony and again in the late evenings... We're taking a very laid back approach with this "adults only" trip :) We probably won't even leave the room until late morning/early afternoon. The majority of our time will probably be spent at the World Showcase. With the kids, we've always rushed through this area - no time to shop or people watch (or even see the films there).

Paying extra for a view would be well worth it for us, but ONLY if we get a good view - sounds like not all of the "lagoon view" rooms have a good view :(

Sounds like you are going to have a fantastic holiday and I don't blame you for wanting to make sure the view is good as well.

Enjoy;)
