Yacht Club Room and Pool Questions?

Do the standard rooms have balconies? If so, what is the view/scenery? Is it a good size balcony with chairs to sit and relax with a cup of coffee, glass of wine? I don't just want a balcony where you can barely move. Is there a particular room location to request for a standard. Any pictures clarifying some standard Yacht Club room views, etc would be quite helpful. Also, I read one review of someone talking about a little current in the pool? What exactly does that mean? When I think of a current, I think of an ocean with a current pulling you under making it difficult to swim. Why would this be a feature in a pool? Thanks for all the help.

The standard rooms at the YC do all have a full balcony. I have a standard view booked for next summer and the best one to me would be either overlooking the back entrance to the resort or over the wedding gazebo. These would give a quick access to the elevators and lobby I believe. Also, the current would not pull you under, but propel you forward. There is a section that brings you around and around like a whirlpool, but doesn't pull you under at all.

Totally agree with the whirlpool thing. There's a circular area in one place that is exactly like a whirlpool - not deep or anything - but you can just go round and round - the kids love it!
The balconies are YC are terrific. Unlike the Beach Club, where some of the balconies are those little walk-outs, all the ones at the YC are full, with a table and 2 chairs - plenty of room to relax with coffee in the am and wine in the pm Although I think any view is nice (except for maybe a parking lot), if you want to pay for water view, you can overlook Crescent Lake, the gazebo or both.

We had a standard room, 1091 ground floor and it had a nice patio with furniture and a view of the water and gazebo, we saw a wedding one day.

Another thing about the YC is the wonderful customer service. We stay there whenever we go to Disney and have loved every visit. The pool is awesome!!!! And every night, after the kids were in bed, my husband and I sat on the balcony and had a glass of wine. In the mornings we were out there enjoying a cup of coffee, and when we took a break suring a day we'd sit out there and just enjoy the scenery and the quiet. I highly recommend the YC for your next visit. You will not be disappointed!

I think I'll request the patio first floor! I remember a lot of bunnies the last time we were at the YC (2006). My DD loves to watch the bunnies. We had a very brave one that would come right up to her feet, but when she bent over, he took off! So cute!

We have booked standard three times, first two were upgraded to water/Boardwalk view, this last time to standard Concierge level. Our view was of the roof of the convention center and toward the parking lot, so I guess that would be a true standard view if not for the CL tacked on.

Yes, that would not make sense to have such a feature in a resort pool. Of course, as others have stated, that is not what it is, so no worries that Disney has built a pool in which it is difficult to swim.

I disagree. The lazy river is 8 feet deep, has high sides, so it tough to grab on to the ledge, and the current is 2x faster than most lazy river type things.

My kid is a strong swimmer and i keep a very close eye on her in that part of the pool.
