Has anyone eaten here for a casual dinner? I am looking for a place near the Boardwalk area in hopes that we'll have a casual dinner and then walk the Boardwalk area a little bit. I know we could do Beaches and Cream, but they don't take ressies there, correct?

Thank you!

We Love the YCG! It's one of the most underappreciated places to eat at WDW. It's definately worth a try! We love it!

We really enjoyed it in December, I think its a good choice, and not a lot of people mention it, so it is not that difficult to get into. :)

Is it pretty easy to find once you're in the lobby of the YC? We would be walking over from Epcot to spend the evening at the Boardwalk after dinner. I don't want to do too much "wandering" to find it. We've never stayed at the YC before, so I don't know too much about this resort.

Thanks!

One other question - is the YCG a lot like the Grand Floridian Cafe? A little more upscale?

I don't know what its like compared to Grand Floridian Cafe since we've never been there. But YCG is not hard to find. We were staying at the Dolphin and just walked over there. As we entered we went right and it was on the side. You can just ask anyone at the resort and they'll point it out (that's what we did). Have a great time:)

Very easy to find. Enter the lobby, go to the left, and there it is. My DH and I usually eat there at least once per trip. It's a casual atmosphere and usually never crowded so you can relax and not feel as if you have to hurry. I'm not sure if I would describe it as "upscale" but it's a nice place.

Beaches & Cream does not take ressies and unless you are going off season at an off hour, it can be nearly impossible to eat there.

I've not eaten at the Galley for dinner, but I enjoyed their breakfast buffet a lot this past February.

Well, I guess I'm confused. I really thought it was on the left, maybe there are two entrances.

I was able to get a ressie at the YCG for this coming Sunday at 7:20pm for a party of 8. I am really looking forward to it - the menu on All Ears looks great and reasonably priced.

Thanks for all the info!

A good comparison. They're both very similar: both above-average sit-down restaurants serving three meals.

It is a great place to get more "normal" casual food at WDW, in a beautiful setting. After eating at many restaurants at Epcot you will love the casual, relaxed menu...:cool1:
My other suggestion is the Big River Grill..you can actually sit out on the broadwalk-again casual food...nothing fancy, but nice Broadwalk atmosphere..

You can enter the lobby of the YC from the water side, OR from the drive up side. So .... if you enter from the water side .... it should be to your left. The very best thing to do is just enter the YC from WHATEVER side, then quickly just ask a CM where it is.

It's a lovely place. It is upscale, but still casual.I have had many breakfasts there, but not dinners.

I'll be the dissenting voice here. We just ate there in early June one night when it was storming so bad we couldn't get to Epcot for our ADR if we tried.

We too had had an enjoyable breakfast there in the past. We will never be going back to the restaurant after the dinner we had.

The restaurant wasn't even full...not even close. I could count about 12 tables that were seated. We were given menus right away and our drink order was taken. Drinks arrived 10 minutes later. I'm not kidding. I watched my watch because I was pretty thirsty.

Server took our order: DS had a kids pizza, I ordered a pork chop, DH had a steak of some sort and DD ordered the halibut.

I can't remember how long it was, probably reasonable, but it seemed long and then everyone's entree except my DD's arrived. (She's 10 by the way). Server said her entree is coming right behind him.

30 minutes later her entree was still not delivered. Server could not be found to see what was up. I ended up giving DD my meal because she was so hungry.

While she was polishing it off, her halibut arrives. Everyone else was done eating. Had she not eating all the fish because she was still hungry, we would not have paid for this meal.

I can also tell you that the server was not too good about refilling drinks. I just had iced tea and it took forever to get it refilled.

While the part of my meal that I had tasted okay, I will not be returning with my family and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
