Long time lurker, first time poster :) We have stayed at BC many times, are trying YC for the first time next month because it was about $60/night cheaper. I couldn't understand why until I learned that YC allows dogs - are dogs allowed in all rooms at YC? If so, I imagine there's not a good chance of getting a dog-free room...

First on the price difference: it is not because of dogs being allowed in the YC. Next up even before the new pet policy at the YC. All resorts allow Service Dogs!

The specifics about which rooms seems to vary but the original plans indicated that pets would be limited to a section of the resort that was near the pet relief station for obvious reasons.

Note: If you have specific allergy needs you can request a specific cleaning of your room, often this is referenced as a "Deep" clean or a Medical / Allergy cleaning.

ETA: add link to more information

Thanks, I assumed that about service dogs and completely understand that. Do you know the reason for the price difference if it doesn't have anything to do with dogs?

NO, YC has always been a bit cheaper than BC. They only recently got a teeny tiny food court. BC is a bit closer to Epcot. And, I think many people prefer the décor of the BC over the YC.

During my Dec stay, I only saw dogs a couple of times.

Thanks, I guess I haven't paid enough attention. I do like that BC is closer to Epcot, but the $60 per night was worth it to me to walk an extra 5ish minutes to it and to the Beach Club marketplace for coffee in the mornings! Thanks for the info on your experience with dogs while staying there.

Didn't see a single dog on our week long stay at Yacht club in Feb. 3 of those days were spent walking around the entirety of the Yacht and Beach club while my wife was at a conference.

Saw a few "service" dogs in the parks, but that's it. Sad that I have to put service in quotes, but a handful of the dogs weren't behaving like actual trained service dogs (for which, I blame the owner).

Don't just assume that a "service" dog might be a fake service animal. Disney hosts regular groups of service dogs "in training". It is a great place to have the dogs experience a wide variety of experiences on a daily basis.

We spent 6 days at the YC last week and never saw or heard any dogs at the resort. We saw two service dogs at the MK, but that was it.

You no longer have to walk to the BC for coffee/pastries/sandwiches. The YC now has its own marketplace just off the lobby.

It's not reasonable to compare the longstanding service dog policy with the impact of a resort-wide, "dog-friendly" policy. This is just common sense.

According to many guests' accounts of conversations with CM's, there is no "dog area".

Mousekeeping often struggles with the basics. Relying on them to "deep clean" is also unreasonable.

Here's what does make sense -money. This is the newer of the refurbs. Not only does Disney need to pay for it, but guests typically gravitate toward these refreshed rooms. The fact that Disney has to discount them significantly below BC speaks volumes. Guests who can't deal, as well as those who don't want to deal with dogs on their vacation aren't going to experiment with it when BC is next door. It's costing them money, and expect them to reevaluate what amounts to a total cluster.

We stayed at YC in March. It's gorgeous. They did an AMAZING job with the refurb! And the CM's there were awesome. We saw exactly one dog our whole time there. It was an itty bitty thing and he was in the gift shop with his family. Super cute, and super well-behaved. We had zero dog issues!
