Yacht Club being evacuated due to lighting hit?

Can anyone confirm? Just saw it on my FB page -- a friend is stuck at Orlando airport and all flights are canceled until further notice due to lightning and we're in NJ and are expecting the same in the next couple of hours or so.

We have warnings here in NJ too - so far not a drop which means it'll undoubtedly wait until 5:01 to start downpouring when we're all trying to get home.

We are on the border in CT and it was a wicked bit of weather that went through. Just rain now, but Holy Hail!! 2 inches in spots. Downstate there were reports of tornadoes.

Wow. I’m surprised to hear YC is evacuating due to lightening. I thought WDW was pretty well prepared considering the amount of lightening they get, esp in summer. We were staying at AKL and having a no park day due to bad storm. Lightening hit the resort and sounded and felt like a bomb going off. I was in my room (good thing) because it was so loud and unexpected I let out a scream

I think the bigger issue is the fire alarm going off. That would indicate that there COULD be an issue. No matter how grounded something is, if the strike hits just right, damage can be done.

Exactly. I hear a fire alarm going off, I get out. Even if it's a false alarm. I would hope everyone else would evacuate too.
