Yacht & Beach Club vs. Contemporary. Any suggetsions

My family is deciding between Yacht and Beach Club and Contemporary and we can't decide where to stay. Any thoughts about which would be better.

We would stay in the tower at Contemporary and if we did Yacht and Beach Club we would not do a water view, but rather a regular standard. We have stayed at other magic Kingdom resorts before which is why we want to maybe try Yacht and Beach Club.

Also, does Yacht and Beach Club have a good affordable place to get breakfast and lunch?

We have never stayed at the Contemporary so I can't compare, but we did just get back from the Boardwalk and we definitely wanted to stay at an Epcot/MGM resort again. With our two boys, we found that being able to walk to Epcot was a really great advantage, and the boat service to MGM was never crowded or a long wait. As far as affordable breakfast, you can walk to the Boardwalk Bakery or the Bellevue Lounge inside the Boardwalk and get a very quick, low cost breakfast (bagels, breakfast burrito, cereal bowls, donuts, etc.). I am sure there are other choices as well, but this will be our first time at the Beach Club. Also, we ate at the Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast at the Beach Club. Although it was more expensive, the meal was great and character interaction was the best we have experienced. I think the advantage of walking to and from Epcot and the quick ride to MGM (some people walk, but it is a little further than we felt like walking) is well worth the stay. Good Luck!

First, you must decide which parks you're going to visit most frequently. If you're planning on spenidng a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, consider the Contemporary; if MGM and Animal Kingdom (and Epcot) dominate your touring plans, stick with the Yacht Club/Beach Club.

You couldn't find two sets of resort more differently from one another. As one of the first Disney hotels, the Contemporary has a sprawling, metropolitan air (why some people call it sterile and theme-less) that a lot of guests find uncomfortable (I love it). IF you're a big family you're in luck: the C ontemporary has the largest standard rooms on Disney property, with particularly spacious bathrooms.

The YC/BC are more inviting, cozier - they feel more like inns than big resort hotels. And consider this: the YC/BC have the best pool (Stormalong Bay) in WDW. It won't be any trouble getting the kids to take a break from park hopping.

But remember: figure out at which parks you're going to spend most of your time.

Or you could do BOTH, like we'll be doing!

After 19 trips, we were finally able to get the CR Tower!
Seems to be always booked!
So, we'll be there at the first half of our trip, doing the MK mostly and water mice, etc.!

Now, we have stayed at the YC....and it IS a wonderful place!
SAB is like a mini-water park in itself, and there is the
Worldshowcase restaurants to choose from, as well as the BW clubs.

Being on the Monrail is NICE if the kids are young, too!
But, the boats go to Epcot and the Studios.

Where do want to go and do?

Heck! When you split a resort stay, it's like two vacations!
And baggage transferring is a snap!

My husband and I were also trying to decide between the Yacht club and CR. We decided upon the yacht club due to these reasons:

MANY people stated that they really liked either the Beach or Yacht club. It was about 1/2 and 1/2 with CR. In fact I don't think I've heard one real bad thing about The Yacht and Beach clubs.

We think we will end up spending more time at the other parks and only a day at MK.

We liked the pictures of the Yacht club rooms better than the CR.

Yacht club looks more like a restful resort and would be nice to come back to after Walking and dealing with crowds all day.

It was a little less expensive than the tower and we thought we were getting a better resort for our money

and as everyone else says... location location location.

So we are hoping we like it there. We are sure we will!

and our fave hands down is the Yacht Club/Beach Club. We enjoyed our stay at the CR but we absolutely love the Epcot Resort area! Also, the BC rooms are a bit nicer. Not to mention Stormalong Bay. It can't be beat - best pool on property.

I think it depends too on what park you spend most of your time in. If it's MK, the answer is obviously the CR. But, with YC you get easy easy access to Epcot and MGM. There's lots to do around the boardwalk and we always find that the CM's at YC and BC are top notch.

yes, there is an inexpensive place to eat - Beaches & Cream. It's a soda shop type environment with burgers, hot dogs, salads, ice cream, turkey and chicken sandwiches. I like it better than the traditional food court fare.

Either way - you'll have fun but I must vote for the Yacht or Beach Club. Either one!

I would definitely vote for YC/BC. You cannot beat having the best pool on property at your disposal. However, if a majority of your time is going to be spent at MK, then CR might be your best choice.

In any event, if you have the ability to do so, I would definitely try for a Crescent Lake view at the YC. DW and I stayed their on our honeymoon and the view was absolutely terrific.
