Hello all,
I am starting from scratch on my computer which came with XP Home. I want to upgrade to Pro but then my cd burner and my 6 in 1 reader won't work. What is the real difference between Pro and Home. I just have a simple two, sometimes three computer network that are all mine. So can I just stay with Home on the desktop. The laptop that im on now and my other desktop are both XP Media Ed. Can I and is it good enough to just keep Home on my primary desktop?

thanks!

I've no idea what the actual difference is. We run XP Pro on ours, but that is only because my brother installed it on this one when he built it & we recently purchashed XP Pro Upgrade to install on our other computer.

Windows XP Pro really just gives you some advanced network options. Unless you have a big network in your house or work, most users don't need Windows XP Pro.

And here are a few sites that will show you what the differences are. I agree with Barry (always a wise choice in itself :teeth: )

Yes I have checked with the MS site and other computer forums. I like getting a lot of opinions from different groups of people before making a decision. Since it is just three machines, then i think i'd just save the couple of hundred for the license fee and spend it on cheesecake and pizza. Thanks people!
