Xmas plane fare

Leaving 12/24, returning 12/29. Have made the same trip the lst four years. Boy is the plane fare really high from PHL to MCO.

Using USAir and Spirit site as well as travelocity and expedia.

Any other suggestions????

I have found that the plane fare doesn't really become cheaper if you wait too much.

I'm right there with you. We are going PHL to MCO on 12/26 to 1/1. The cheapest I found was $284 per ticket on Priceline. It is much cheaper than $450+ which is what they were last year, but still very high. I've been at it all week, and it has gone up every day. I may just take the plunge. In my past experience, it will only go higher.

Last year I was lucky enough to get USA 3000 for $200 a ticket. Their schedule is not out yet past 4/28, though. Although there were many negative posts about USA 3000 here, we had a great experience with them. I would't hesitate to fly them again.

My only suggestion is to wait out the buget airlines like SW....

I am in your boat...same dates too...I am waiting for Jet Blue, and poss SWA. I have found in the summer there does seem to be several opportunities for lower rates. My back up plan is driving if I cannot get tickets for less than $200 rt (I am dreaming)... I am going to sign up to expedia fare watcher. Also are you near Stewart Airport in NY...Allegiant seems to have some great fares too... The only bad thing about getting ticket now...the flight times will change and could be cancelled.

Wait for SWA to open up its dates for your time period. We flew down Christmas Eve of 2004 on SWA and returned after New Years. We paid $79 each way plus taxes and fees. Total for four tickets around $770. This year we waited until after New Years and flew down on the 2nd and back on the 13th of January. Paid $79 down and $49 back.

I am also leaving In Dec ( the 19th ) thru the 30th from Phl and right now I have seen 190.00 R/T per person is this a good rate it just seems so high when I see the DINGS fares

Forget Jetblue They do NOT have any bargain fares from Xmas thru New Years. I just got a 79 one way ticket on Delta MCO/LGA on 1/1/07 . I was worried that fares from MCO on 1/1 would be very high.
