I'm thinking of hanging my xmas lights up (interior and exterior) this weekend and turning them on inside for Thanksgiving. Any thoughts? Is this tacky or confusing? If so, any ideas on Thanksgiving decor? I am having a bunch of people over and want the house to look really festive.

Thanks for the input!

The guy across the street from us has had his tree up and lit inside the living room for 3 weeks now :rotfl: :rotfl:

DH hung the exterior lights up 2 weeks ago when we had a warm weekend. We don't plan on turning them on until the day after Thanksgiving when we put our tree and other decorations up.

I say do what you want :) :) :) The stores have had their stuff up since before Halloween :rotfl:

Our lights went up last weekend due to warmer weather. We were going to turn them on Thanksgiving weekend but a few others in the neighborhood have them on so we went ahead and turned ours on to.

If you want them up and on then go for it!

I will be putting our outside lights up tomorrow since the weather will cooperate. We won't turn them on until after Thanksgiving though. I wouldn't decorate for Christmas if you are having a bunch of people over for Thanksgiving mainly because of the space things take like your tree.

Yeah, I wasn't going to put up the tree --- we'll get that the next day (Friday). Any ideas from anyone on Thankgiving decorations?

Thanks for the input!!!

I'll put the outdoor stuff as soon as we have a decent weather day now but they won't go on until 2 weeks before Christmas. Inside will not be done until about that time too. But a lot of people in my neighborhood start lighting up the outside on Thanksgiving so if you want to decorate go for it.

My tree is up with lights. no decorations yet. I am going to head outside in a few minutes to start on the outside lights, although I won't be lighting them until after Thanksgiving. We are going to be away for so much of the next 5 weeks, I have to start now. This is the first year that I feel that I have a grip on things acutally getting done without panicking.

Do what you want to do, it is why your friends like you.

and christmas deserves more that the few weeks between thanksgiving and the end of the year.

Depends on what type of christmas decor you have. If i were sharing thanksgiving with someone at their house. It would be strange if they had Christmas decorations up already.

But if it's just wreaths and white lights outside. That's beautiful and appropriate.

But indoor's..check out michaels or party city for thanksgiving decor. they have it. belive it or not! lol

Good tip about Michaels. Do they sell place mats, too?

On my way to work I saw a house that was decorated with wreaths and lights, another with something green wrapped around the lightpost. On my way back home from work I saw a lighted Christmas tree in someone's window. These were all in the same neighborhood.

I don't plan to set my things up until the first week of December, which comes early this year with Thanksgiving being so late.

I don't think it's tacky at all! I plan on putting all of my stuff up the night before Thanksgiving, and I noticed that a bunch of my neighbors put their lights up today. That's one thing I love about this new apartment complex I moved to in September; everybody here goes all out in terms of decorating for holidays. It always looks so festive! :goodvibes

I always light my Christmas lights on Thanksgiving. I figure if it is good enough for the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, it's good enough for me!

Go for it! I think it would look very festive..:thumbsup2

Got ours up today and they're glowing out there as we speak! :thumbsup2 I much prefer them up a month early rather than still up a month late!

Fine with me. I just got home and I saw some lights on houses already. I am ready for some Christmas cheer.

We were listening to Christmas music as we were driving.:santa:

We always decorate Thanksgiving day if we are home. Once dinner is over, it's Christmas time in my books.:cool1:
