Help! Our nephews kids are the 6 and 1 year old girls.
For those of you with young kids what would be a good gift?

I have asked their mom and she said, "They would like whatever you give them."
That does not help!! We will be seeing them Thanksgiving weekend.
Do any of you Disers have any ideas to help me?!!!

Thanks so much
Lisa

For the one year old, I would say anything from the Fisher Price Little People line of toys.

For the 6 year old, Barbies, Dolls, or some type of craft item that is age appropriate.

6 year old... disney princess stuff would be great too. There is a bear you color and wash called Inkoos that would be a great gift. My dd 10 wants it, but she would have liked it at that age too.

For the 6 year old, I recommend the bears you can draw on or anything Littlest Pet Shop, especially now that they have the Moonlight series or whatever they are called. DD9 has been collecting LPS since she was 4, has a HUGE collection and still plays with them.

For the 1 year olds, DD2 just turned 2 on 10/10 and she LOVES these educational wooden blocks that go into a wooden shape sorter? Like, seriously lugs this thing everywhere. Also, last year (when she was just turned 1) I had on her Christmas list a drive and ride toy shopping cart from Costco ($19.99) but they sold out before I could buy it. SIL bought her one for her birthday this year and this kid drags this thing all over the house, it's hilarious! (With the wooden shape sorter thing in it, no less!) Also, there's a toy called Counting Cookies ($14.99 at Target.com and Amazon) that DD9 had and DD2 got a set last Christmas that she still loves and plays with. Fun and very educational, she can count to 13 and I think it's because of these cookies.

Hope that helps!

Awesome!! Thank you everyone! I am going to have fun looking for these toys. My youngest is 15 and no fun anymore! LOL!

Balls galore are a wonderful developmental toy for kids of these ages. Big soft balls for the little ones and smaller, more manipulative balls for the 6yo. My friend who does child development says balls are the best toys a child can have. They roll on them, roll them, throw them and chase them, give them to each other, learn colors, direction, shape, hand to eye co-ordination and on and on and on with them. No one has to sit down and show them what to do either; they are completely a toy that encourages ideas, creativity, large and small muscle activity... get them balls.

DD7 wasn't all that into LPS at all and that can clutter up if they aren't into it, but I think craft projects are a great idea. There are so many fun ones out there (headbands, tie dye, bracelets, etc).

My pal Scout (and Violet) are a great idea for the younger one. DD2 loves Violet! Or balls are a great idea as well!

My go-to gift for kids that age is PJs with a matching book. For instance, I got DH's niece (turning 7 this month) a pair of Gymboree PJs that have owl decorations with a copy of Arnold Lobel's Owl at Home.

As a mom of a 7yo dd, we have craft stuff up the wazoo, and tons of little toys (LPS, Calico Critters, MLP, Barbie, etc etc) but we can always use extra books. And gifts of PJs don't have to be the recipient's first choice of style since she's just wearing them to bed.

How big are the mini inkoos? How big r the regular ones?
