:thewave: It's our first Christmas away from home and we are not sure what kinds of extras to pack for WDW. Should we bring lights, stockings, scarfs and hats...experienced travelers please advise! Thank you.

Well, I've been once before, in 2000, early December. We just brought Santa hats to wear. (Some preparation!)

For our trip this December, I bought a small fiberoptic tree, window clings, and santa hats. (Sense of humor is always needed.)

I wouldn't stress over how to decorate the room. You're at WDW at Christmas. Just focus on your special people that you will be sharing the experience with, and have fun!

We were there at Christmas several years ago and it happened to be really cold though the weather reports had talked about 50s. Instead it was in the low 30s. All the hats, gloves, scarves were sold out of the parks.

If I ever go back at Christmas, I'll be sure to have winter gear, just in case!

I have to second the reminder about hats, mittons, scarf, warm jackets! If your from the north you use to seeing the heat turned on when you go inside places. Well at the magic kingdom there doesn't seem to be heat anywhere, so even in the restraunts don't expect heat in the parks even when its 30 degrees outside. Plus, when your there til midnight the nights of the x-mas party, sitting for the late parade, with the wind... bbrrr.

We've been a couple times in december and a couple of those days seem to get into the 30's.
If you have a small child in a stroller, or a person who travels in a wheelchair or scooter. Make special attention, since they are sitting still, they will get much colder, stay colder, compared to those traveling around on 2 feet who will be warmer by walking.

It always seems to get cold just in time for Christmas. Definitely bring coats, scarves, mittens. Layers are definitely in this time of year in Florida.

We like to decorate our room and bring a small tree, lights (if we have a balcony-not this year) and anything else that will add to our festivities.

Be sure to enjoy the special Christmas stuff in the parks - trees, characters decorated for Christmas, Osborne lights, Candlelight Processional and so on.

Christmas in Disney is the best! :cheer2:

We were in orlando for Christmas last year. It was rainy and cold every day of our vacation until the day we left. The temperature was forecast to be 70 degrees! Boy was I disappointed. I wanted to extend our stay to enjoy the weather, but of course it was impossible.

We're going again this year. My DH says I must have a mental block. :rotfl:

My vote goes for mittens and hats. And ponchos too!

Bring winter clother in layers and bring some warm weather items as well. Last year it was FREEZING on Christmas day and the day after, but a few days after that, it was swimming weather during the afternoons. I think it even hit 80 on NYE! Be flexible! :)

Thank you for all of the great suggestions! I will definitly plan on bringing layers, hats, scarfs, and mittens.

Two years ago it was warm, 80's and swimming, last year it was cold and rainy for some of the time. Layers are the way to go.

We bring a small tree, lights and mini ornaments, as well as our stockings. We put the tree on the small table in the room. And, we bring the gifts, open them, and then take them home. LOL This year, we will bring our Chanukah items as well!
