XM or Sirius?

Might get DH satelite radio for Christmas. Does anyone have any opinions on which is better: XM or Sirius?

I scanned each website and they seem to be equivalent on price. I think xm offered 150 channels, Sirius 120.

Are there any major points that put one ahead of the other?

TIA,

We have Sirius and LOVE it. The major differences are that Sirius carries NFL broadcasts, college football and other college sports broadcasts, NBA broadcasts and NHL broadcasts. In January Howard Stern will be on Sirius. XM has Major league baseball coverage. Both are similar in music and talk. Howard Stern and the NFL pushed us over to Sirius.

Same here, for all of the same reasons. My only disappointment is that Air America went over to XM radio and no longer broadcasts on Sirius...otherwise, I love my Sirius!

Stern on sirius makes it for me.....

However, I think XM has better/cheaper receiver/systems for listening...

I want Sirius too for Howard, football and other talk radio hosts I like. Nascar is currently on XM but will be coming to Sirius in 2008, I think? DH would prefer XM for Nascar.

Sirius is also the sole host of NPR programming - they have three channels.

I can't wait for this to come out:

I really prefer XM, you may be different.

Look at the programming and see what you like. For me, the classical programming is so much better than what NPR offers. I also like the jazz and classic rock stations. I don't ever listen to talk radio so have no suggestions there.

I am trying to decide between that and the new Starmate. I think the S50 is pretty, but I don't know if I will ever really need it.

I'll probably be selling my JVC receiver for cheap in November if anyone wants to buy it. I just wouldn't recommend it for the NYC area because I can't always get good reception. But I would also sell it with the boom box. :)

We have the SPORTSTER IR which has been nothing but great. I'd like the S50 so I can record some music from Sirius and download other music to use at the gym, plus I would have a receiver for my car since DH has custody of the Sportster. LOL

I have both and I think that it depends on what programming you are wanting. Take a listen to each one's free trial to see what the music channels sound like.
