We just returned from the 6/8 and as several posted, it rained and rained and rained.

Xcaret was beautiful. However, it was very slippery as well. My nine year old fell and cut her chin open which required stitches while at Xcaret. There was not time to get back to the boat within the time frame for stitches and due to the weather we weren't sure if we could hire an individual to boat us back. After much praying and crying, we decided we had to trust that everything would be okay and they paged a physician from Cozumel to come to first aid and sew up her chin. He was very nice and all seems to be fine. I am posting this in case anyone else has an encounter there, if it is any piece of mind, know that it is okay to be stitched up there. I was such a wreck making sure everything was sterile and they used my bottle water. We had her checked out by the ships doctor and he said the stitches looked great. We will have them removed here tomorrow for the third opinion. Needless to say between the weather and the accident, I feel the need for a little more Magic!!!! Maybe we can redo it soon.

The little we saw of Xcaret (as this happened in the first 30 minutes) was beautiful. We will return there someday!!!!

so sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. Hope that she will have a quick recovery, and no scare. Keep us posted, and take care!

Thanks. Hopefully all will go well tomorrow. She also broke a couple of teeth so we have to get that checked as well. She has been such a trooper and I am sure she got a lot more souvenirs that she normally would have;) ;)

oh no, not her teeth! I really wish you good luck and hope that it wont' be anything too major that can't be fixed. If i were you, i would be a wreck!

Did you have trip insurance? If so i would check and see how that might be able to help cover some of these expenses.

That is so sad! I feel so bad for you guys - what a terrific and brave daughter you have to be such a trooper. Thanks for the "heads-up" on the slippery surfaces there. Good luck

So sorry to hear about your daughter. Keep us informed about what your doctor has to say about the stitches. Hope she's feeling better soon. Good Luck with her teeth. That is such a shame that had to happen.

We also just returned from the 6/8 Western trip that rained and rained and rained and rained. We went to Chankanaab and had a very similar experience. It was very, very slippery walking over the rocks to get into the water to snorkel. A very large man (275 lbs?) was hit by a wave and slipped. He knocked into my husband as he fell. My husband twisted his ankle, but that poor man fell backward hitting his head on solid rock! They had to pull him from the water and he was bleeding severely. I saw him on the ship a day later with a bandage covering half of his head. Now I know why we had to sign those waivers before the excursions.

although I have been to these places when it is terrific weather, I will have to remember this if it is rainy. Normally I would go ahead and snorkel because you are getting wet anyway, but this is making me have second thoughts. Thanx so much for the heads up on the slippery rock.

Thanks for everyone's concern. The pediatrician said that the physician at Xcaret did a fabulous job on the stitches. Then we moved on to the dentist and the best news was that they were not permanent teeth. He was able to repair these and did an x ray to check for damage to her jaw and that seemed to be okay as well. We were VERY fortunate. I guess this just goes to show that I need to be more trusting of other healthcare providers. You get so used to the one you use in your hometown .

Thanks again for all the concern and you guys be careful on those rocks!!!!!
