Please advise which villas are closest to pools and amenities

How does the resort compare with Cypress Harbour

I am curious about this too. We are headed to the Wyndham Palms in a couple of weeks.

Also, my cousin and her family will arrive three days before my son and I. We each have a two bedroom villa booked through hotelkingdom.com. Do you think if I call the Wyndham Palms, they will put us in the same building? I understand this place is huge and we would really prefer to be in the same building, if not next door to each other?

Anyone have experience with requests like this?

I want to know about the proximity to pools etc. too. We are leaving in a month. I would like to request.

We looked into this property last month and I found some helpful reviews at Trip Advisor

ok, pulled my map out from my stay in March 2003 for a refresher on proximity:

closest buildings to the main pool near check in & the miniature golf, caddyshack snack place, etc are building 10 & 12 with buildings 11 being right next to 10 & 13 right next to 12.

closest to the 2nd pool listed on the map & closest to the front entrance would be building 18 (appears right smack next to the pool) then building 19, 20, & 21 across from the pool. I stayed in building 21 & the wlk to the pool may have been 200-250 steps or so, very close. building 17 may be about the same amount of steps although according to the map is across the parking lot to the right from building 18

antmaril,
my sister booked thru hotelkingdom about 3 or 4 days after I did, she also had a 2 bedroom villa, when I got there I asked if we could be in the same building & they said no problem, she was actually 2 floors just above the villa we stayed in. I would call in advance tho just in case they are busy. we liked being on separate floors as we were close enough to visit easily but not in each others hair.

cinamin27 - Thanks for the info. I will call them just to give them a heads up that we are traveling together. Actually, my cousin will be checking in three days before we get there. So, we want to be in the same building as she and her family.

Thanks, also, for the info on building location. Your posts have actually convinced me that this place will be nice. I had some concerns about staying offsite (first time for us). We were supposed to be at Boardwalk Inn last week. However, my father-in-law is quite ill and the day before we were supposed to leave, my husband decided he just couldn't leave for a week. He wanted my son and I to go without him. I didn't really want to do that and then remembered that my cousin was planning a trip later in July. To make a long story short, my son and I are joining my cousin and her family. However, the Boardwalk Inn was not a possibility for them. I started surfing trying to find a nice place to stay that was off site and found the Wyndham Palms. I then came here to check it out and found your posts. Sounds like it will be perfect for us. Thanks again.

Do you have to drive around this resort to get to pools, breakfast etc?

Just got back from Wyndham Palms. I requested building # 10 since it was close to the pool but they told me it was not available and gave me building # 15. They said that it was newer than building # 10.

We had a 2BR, 2 bath and it was very nice and clean. We never made it to the pool but we did notice that they offer free shuttles (golf cart rides) to the pool.

sounds a little too big for me. Vistana is big, but you could walk everywhere.

We stayed here for just one night 7/11-7/12. We chose this resort for our last night in Orlando to just relax after a pretty hectic week at Gaylord Palms/Royal Pacific Resort. We mostly hung around the room during the day and did our laundry but this place did seem huge to me. When first driving in trying to find the check in area it just seemed to go on and on, I think they are still building too! There was one pool near the check in area, they were bbq'ing there when we arrived and when we checked in we were told the bbq was free. We never went so I don't know what they were offering, I am guessing hamburgers and hot dogs.

We did have one very slight problem, I had booked a 2 bedroom unit thru hotel kingdom. From what I had read, I assumed this was one king bedroom, another bedroom with two queens and a sofabed. I was a little surprised when we got to our room and it was two separate units. We were in building 18 (pool was right next to us). The way this was situated was you go in the front door and there is a small foyer with two doors on either side on a diagonal. The two rooms were basically the same except that one had the 50" tv, a larger kitchen area and the screened in porch. So there was a king size bedroom, sofabed in livingroom in one and (I think) a queen size bedroom with sofabed in the livingroom in the other. The smaller unit just had a very small patio outside the sliding doors, no chairs or screen. This could have been a problem if I had needed that room for smaller children as there was no connecting door, but it was for my 23 y/o son, his wife and two of my older children. It ended up working out well for us as we had the 2 washers/dryers.

We really liked our stay here and wished we had more time to enjoy it. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Another feature I liked was that we had a ground floor room and the outside screen had a door where my youngest daughter could go outside and run around in the grass.

Oh, I wanted to mention one more thing for those who are going to be staying here. We had a lot of trouble finding this place. I had asked here where it was located and was told across from Orlange Lake. It was not--I guess across from means different things to different people as it was on the other side of 192 but no, not directly across. You take 192 W to Old Wilson Road (coming from I-4) and make a left, it is a very short drive down on the right, or just look for the giant Elvis and make a left there. It was very conveniently located, I thought.

Hi; thanks for the great info! What time were you checking in? I know it says a 4PM check-in but has anyone checked in a bit earlier? Thanks! Also, in the regular 2-bedroom villa, what size beds are in the second bedroom? Thanks!

Debbie655:

Thank you very much for the information. My son and I are checking into the Wyndham Palms tomorrow. Do you think there is any chance we will be able to check-in in the morning? I am going to take a chance and stop there before we head to Epcot for the afternoon -- we are meeting family at 1:30 p.m.

I have a two bedroom villa booked and I really hope I get one that has a master bedroom and a second bedroom in the unit. However, it won't be the end of the world, since my son is 16.

Thanks for the heads up on the directions.

We just got back from there on Sunday. I booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit through www.hotelkingdom.com for $89 per night. If you request a 2 bedroom unit it should have a king size bed in the master bedroom with a jacuzzi tub. In the second bedroom it had 2 queen size beds. In the living room it had a leather sectional sofa with rollout bed.

The kitchen had a dishwasher, microwave, frig. with icemaker, and washer & dryer. They supplied all silverware, dishes, and glasses (including wine glasses).

The patio was screened in with a nice table with 4 chairs. The total sq. footage was 1552 sq. ft.

antmaril: We had requested a late check out at RP because I wasn't sure what time they (Wyndham Palms) would let us check in. The RP would only give us until 12pm so my son called ahead to the WP, explained our situation and they said check in was 4pm, that we could pre register but definitely no early check in. On our way over there, we dropped our son and daughter in law at Epcot and decided to just go over and register. Well this was before 1 I believe and they gave us our room keys and let us check in at that time. I was so glad that I went over there otherwise we would have spent hours just wasting time. Hope you have a great time!

Debbie655:

Thanks for the response. I think I'm just going to go over there from the airport. If they can't give me the keys, I'll pre-register.

I'm looking forward to it. We are only staying at the Wyndham Palms two nights and then it's on to Royal Pacific Resort at Universal for three nights.

Yea!

Antmaril: We stayed at RP too, 5 nights. We love this resort. I am so jealous of all who are just going. We got home Sunday the 13th after 8 days and still, you wait and wait for vacation and before you know it you are home again planning the next one. Unfortunately we cannot go as often as some, only once a year for us.

or just look for the giant Elvis
We just returned from the WP. The inflatable Elvis was up until Saturday, and then on Sunday we noticed he was down. Today we noticed that he was still gone.

So, either they only put him up for the end of the week to advertise their Thurs.-Sat. Elvis shows, or they have taken him down for good.

There was one pool near the check in area, they were bbq'ing there when we arrived and when we checked in we were told the bbq was free. We never went so I don't know what they were offering, I am guessing hamburgers and hot dogs.
They serve BBQ chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, chips, and Pepsi at the poolside party. We thought it was a very nice meal. They also gave away door prizes.

Do you think there is any chance we will be able to check-in in the morning?
Yes.
I know they will allow you to check in early if you are a Wyndham by Request member. Membership is free, and they will also give you snacks when you check in.
