Wyndham Palace, what can you walk to other than Downtown Disney?

HI,
Booked at Wyhdham Palace in Jan. Won't have a car. I have read you can walk to Downtown Disney. Are there any other restaurants you can walk to?
What's the most inexpensive thing to eat in the hotel? We are on a budget!

In the hotel itself there is the Watercress Cafe which is reasonable. The Outback Steakhouse (NOT the chain) is there too and is very good but not inexpensive. You can walk to DTD but that's about it. I don't mean to sound like your mom here but PLEASE don't let anyone tell you to walk to the Crossroads Shopping Center from the Wyndham. It is a short distance by car. By the time you walked there an back it would be QUITE a hike. But the main reason not to walk there is because the road leading there is very busy and to get to the Crossroads you have to cross a MAJOR intersection which is always busy. This is not an intersection meant for pedestrians. I have seen accidents there, and "almost" accidents more times than I can count. Once involved a pedestrian and they are very lucky. The pedestrian almost caused a multi-car collision. There are so many tourists who aren't familiar with where they're going that are looking for street signs, at their maps etc. that it makes the intersection that much more dangerous. Keep in mind there are also local pizza places that deliver. Between that, the cafe in the hotel, and DTD which has some reasonable options you should find what you want to eat. Sorry to rant about the walking thing but it's just not worth taking the chance.

There is really nothing else walking distance from the Wyndham (even DTD is not terribly close--probably about 3/4 of a mile). We found the hotel restaurants to be over-the-top expensive--the breakfast buffet was around $18 per person at the Watercress Cafe (the Wyndham's least expensive restaurant). They do have a small market/convenience store type place that has pre-made sandwiches for around $8.00 each.

I'm pretty sure that all the DTD area hotels have some type of restaurant. We ate the character breakfast at the Grosvenor Resort once. It was reasonable & the buffet was like a typical Disney buffet. We've also eaten at the cafe at Holiday Inn, but then it was a Courtyard by Marriott. Again, it was reasonable and the food was good. I'm not sure if it's still there though. Maybe you could look for menus for all the hotels & see if you find anything that appeals to you. This would increase your options. Have a great trip! :)
