We are going the last week of January, so really can't book anything now until the 30 day mark is up. Has anyone booked one of their weeks and had any problems? There is no timeshare tour required correct??

There are 3 places that we would be interested (we think) in staying. I would love to hear the thoughts of anyone who has stayed in any of them. We are looking at the 2 bedroom units of:

High Point World Resort

Villas at Summer Bay

Wyndham Cypress Palms

We also might give lastminutevillas.net a shot and see what comes up for what price. I've never done ANY last minute planning, and I must admit it's a bit nerve wracking. It doesn't help that we have kind of weird dates of Jan 25-Feb 5th which is a Monday to the following Friday, so 11 nights. The last minute rentals are Sunday-Sunday, so we would have to waste one night and fill in the last 4 somewhere which is really not a problem. So....anyone who has any first hand experience of any of these places, your opinion would be appreciated. :goodvibes

Couple things to consider with that option. There will be tax on the $399/week price, so you are probably looking at close to $440 +/- a week. When booking 2 weeks even at the same property, you aren't guaranteed the same unit. Usually the resorts work with you to try to keep you in the same one, but with 2 separate bookings there is always a chance you will be moved.
Then add the cost for 4 additional nights, I don't think it's the most cost effective option. I'd try to find 1 unit for the entire 11 nights.

If you have a choice: I've stayed at Summer Bay and loved the unit. High Point World Resort is very plain and nothing at all like Summer Bay, I've stayed there too. I don't know about the other one.

Take a look at Skyauction. Click on vacation rentals, then "buy it now." Some of the same inventory and the price is $325, plus a $20 fee, total $345 for a one week stay.

Thanks for your help. We have decided to go the villa rental route since our dates are a little weird being a friday through a friday we are needing.

Cypress Palms on 192. I like the location--watch out for Krispy Kreme esp when they have the sign lit for Hot Donuts
