We are considering these two properties for a one week stay in October. Has anyone ever stayed at both and can compare the two? Assuming all things being equal (both two bedroom units, same price for both resorts), which would you prefer based on quality of the accommodations?

Summer Bay appears to have WAY more resort amenities for guests to enjoy (albiet many at an additional fee) but is farther out. Then there's that pesky sink hole that ate a building a few years back.

We are currently looking at both resorts on Skyauction and would welcome your thoughts. SVR would have been our preference, but its not available (yet, anyway) for the dates we need.

I have stayed at both and prefer Cypress Palms. I hated making the long drive out 192 to Summer Bay. I take Oceola Parkway or 535 to Poinciana and avoid 192 when possible. The pools are quiet (except for karaoke hour) and we'd rather spend time at waterparks and disney resorts or Disney Springs than at the resort. Their free wifi has always worked well for us and we love the comfort of the rooms. It can be a long walk from the elevator to the room and there is no gated security if that matters to you. Their most recent room rehab was just finished this year.

We spent time on I drive and at Seaworld so Cypress Palms is a lot closer to these locations. There is a better assortment of restaurants near Summer Bay.

Excellent feedback, thank you so much!

I think Cypress Palms is going to be the winner.....location is key for us. CP is much closer than Summer Bay to all the stuff we plan to do. Great to know about the room rehab too, that's a definitely plus as well!!

What size unit are you looking for? If you need a one bedroom, make sure you ask for the deluxe, which has a full kitchen and a lot more room. The one bedroom suite is tiny, more like an efficiency. The two bedroom units are a good size.

We only stayed at Cypress Palms, not Summer Bay. We liked everything about it, except for the dirty carpeting. It really needed a good cleaning. I found the pools to be cold, but that's just me. The location was very convenient.

If we go through Skyauction, we'll go for a two bedroom villa. The price difference between the one and two bedroom units is so small that its worth it to upgrade to the larger quarters (the two bedroom will be $345 including fees and taxes, which is a steal for that space if the resort is nice). Plus, we have a two bedroom unit at SVR for the other week, so one shouldn't feel cramped versus the other.

I'd go with Cypress Palms for the location. It would take a decent amount of time to get to Sea World from Summer Bay. We've looked at Summer Bay and the amenities look really great but the location keeps us from booking.
