Hi y'all, just booked a 2 bedroom here through Orbitz for June and didn't notice any mention of a $98 cleaning fee in my listing. I also thought that the listing said you could cancel,, but apparently it was every listing but the one I booked. Once I realized this my heart sank, as another $98 is steep, and now I cant cancel.

Can anyone give me any feedback on a similar situation? Any feedback on this resort at all? Admittedly I should have came here first before booking, but I swore my listing said free cancelation :/

Ive emailed them directly, but hoping to work it out. Would love some feedback on this resort.

TIA

I never book a timeshare through a large company like that. Always book through an owner or a company like Vacation Strategy. If there is a no cancellation policy, you are pretty much stuck. Yes, even the timeshare owners have the $100 cleaning. However, they receive X number of cleaning certificates per year. They usually never see the fee.

Now, if you have a reservation for June (depending on the dates you are going), be happy. If you can cancel, post the dates to see if anyone can spot availability and pricing.

Was the $98 cleaning fee listed in the "no surprises" bill at the right when you booked it? Or something you read in one of the forums?

We have never been charged a cleaning fee in multiple stays at WBC. As far as I know, unless you want to pay for an extra cleaning, there is no charge like that. I'll speculate there is some confusion going on about it. If they were charging that fee, many, many people would be complaining about it

It is listed right in the rental information on Orbitz that there is a $98 cleaning fee. It is not a surprise. If you booked the Nonrefundable reservation, then you may be out of luck. If you booked the one with free cancellation, cancel immediately. They are charging a FORTUNE over the going rate. $300+/nt for a 2BR is about 3x over the going rate. Plus, you have the 12.5% tax on it.

What dates are you going?

I didn't realize it was all just timeshare. Figured they had regular rooms like Disney does with the Villas.

The no surprise fee that they list did NOT show the $98. It wasn't until I paid for the reservation that, that information popped up. Its only for 2 nights, 6/10-6/12

If you can cancel, I would. There is a rental available for June 10 - June 16 for $799 on eBay. Based on what I saw on Orbitz, you are paying more than that for 2 nights.

@BigredNole, Do you ever book through Vacation Strategy to ensue you have a room and then cancel if you find something cheaper as the date gets closer? I'm looking for March 1st- March 8th and right now I'm being quoted $1300 for 2 BDRM. I want to secure our stay here but also don't really want to pay that if lower rates are readily available.

Vacation Strategy will price match ...

Even if you happen to find a better price … we will happily match it and give you a $50
credit towards any future vacation with us.

Best to contact V/S to get the specific guidelines regarding a price match.

My very first timeshare rental was through VS. It was quick and simple. After staying, I almost fell into the trap of buying a timeshare. As I did more research, I found that it was not difficult to find better pricing. However, to get better pricing, you assume more risk.

$1,300 for a 2BR for a week during peak season is not a bad deal. So much is changing with Wyndham in the coming days that no one really knows what discounts will come down the pipe. The Wait List will change the book/rebook. VS also have a very generous cancellation policy. Lock in your room at their rate. The only thing that can go from there is down.

I only need june 10 and 11th. Staying DVC for the 2 weeks after that. My issue is the hidden fee, and the non cancellation policy which was confusing amongst the other orbitz options. All my OWN fault, admittedly, just trying to figure out out.
