We have room 2068 booked on Wonder Alaska sailing. Midship Deck 2 Oceanview. I have been contemplating moving to Deck 5 Inside Room 6601 to save $1K. Actually just noticed 6099 is available as well. We have never sailed so want to be midship and these are our choices (veranda is just too ridiculous).

I'd like to get this done ASAP before the two inside rooms left disappear. What would you do? I'm likely the more seasick type than my husband/12 year old. We will be in the room for usual time but also for medical treatments here and there.

Thanks!

I will book the inside room.i have been on 22 cruises 18 have been inside, 2 port holes and 2 verendahs. I’m in my room to do the five things that starts with the letter S and to get dress. I’m not made out of money so this helps me cruise more than I would.

I would go inside as well, partly because I'd prefer to be on a higher deck. On deck 5 or 6, super-easy to get outside to a deck where you can watch the scenery.

I love Deck 2 and natural light but to save $1,000 I would moved to the inside. We do not hang out in our cabin much so having an inside to save some money would work.

I do like the natural light because it helps with my body clock and waking. Insides are great for naps though as they can be pitch black. $1,000 is a lot towards other things.

I would do the oceanview because (1) it's alaska, and the views are to die for, but it's also really cold, so it would be nice to sit by the window in the early morning and look out at the beautiful mountains without having to go out on the freezing deck; (2) I was horribly motion sick on my Alaskan honeymoon cruise (the water can get pretty choppy up there) and the only thing that helped was being on a low deck midship; I feel like you feel it so much worse up high.

Thanks all. I guess I will stick with Deck 2 for now until Christmas. Then I will ask my kid if he cares about the $1000 window or if he wants that for excursions :-)

Sorry OP I derailed the thread! Originally in reading this, I thought hmm - I would always choose OV because I get a bit seasick and I like being able to look outside from my room, plus, natural light. Also, Alaska ... the scenery is awesome! That being said, $1,000 is substantial and would certainly buy a nice warm coat to wear on deck (if I weren't Canadian and thus not already in possession of several warm coats). I'd apply that $1,000 to a few extra days in Vancouver, and live it up :)

Well, I’ve stayed twice on Deck 2 OV and loved it, so I vote for that. There is only one chance for your first ever cruise, I would stay in a cabin where you can see the beauty outside.

I would not do an inside on Alaska. I would say the entire cruise looks like a post card, I wouldn't want to miss a moment of it if I'm awake. On a cruise where views are not as important I would probably move to an inside to save $1k.

We went to Alaska in 2014 on DCL. We had cabin 2072, so right by the one you now have booked. It was a very nice and quiet cabin. I would keep the OV, I loved opening the window curtain anytime we were in our cabin and seeing the lovely view. We don't spend a lot of time in our cabin when we cruise, but I still like being able to open the curtain and to see the ocean.
