WWYD Taxi Driver gets lost? Pay him? Tip him?

Yesterday at Baltimore's Inner Harbor we had to take 2 taxis from the hotel to the Aquarium. ( it was pouring or we would have walked ). My taxi ride was $4.40 plus tip.

My SIL's taxi driver got lost. Her bill was $6.80 before tip. The taxi driver admitted he got lost. He also said it was his second day as a driver. ( How does a Baltimore taxi driver get lost finding the aquarium form about 6 - 8 blocks away, anyway )?

She paid the full $6.80 fare PLUS gave him a tip.

I would have paid him the $6.80 and not given him a tip.

I agree with you. I figure you over paid for the taxi ride. I know I will get blasted since he lives off of tips but...

I'm a weanie and hate direct confrontation. I probably would have under-tipped (like maybe given him $7 and let him keep the few extra cents), but I definitely would have called the company. I find that inexcusible.
