WWYD: Swan/Dolphin 2022 or Wilderness & AKL in 2023?

Hi Dis fam,
I'm saving for a week-long December trip. I could book Swan today (through Costco) at a great deal for 2022. Or I could save up for 2023 and stay at a split of Wilderness and AKL. We're huge on theming, so Swan seems like such a dull, semi-Disney place. If the price were even close to comparable, there's no contest, I'd stay on-site. What would you do? Side note: anyone seen S/D at Christmas?

The location of Swan/Dolphin can’t be beat and the beds are supposedly very comfy. You’d be nearby lots of other resorts and food options, and you can literally walk into epcot. All that plus being able to go a year earlier? Id pick the earlier trip eith the Swan.

Couple ideas: Stay at the swan and visit wilderness and AK during your trip via dining reservation or resort hopping using Disney travel. Or do a split stay at Swan and either AK or WL this year. Instead of both next year.

Hands down swan. We love being able to walk to the parks (hs and ep). Love the dining options within walking distance as well as being able to go to the riveria via skyliner. The whole area surrounding swan with yacht, beach and boardwalk makes it so you won’t be missing out on theming other than the lobbies of the other resorts your thinking about. We’ve been during the month of December and they do have Christmas decorations up.

If you are all about the theming and don't care about proximity to parks, I would wait for AKL/WL. We stay at the Swan frequently, but it's only to save money while still being in close proximity to EP/DHS and a lot of dining options. If BC/YC were the same price as the Swan, I would much prefer staying at either of those resorts. We just stayed at the Swan the week before Christmas and the decorations are nothing like you will see at WDW resorts like WL, GF or BC. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy our stays at the Swan, but we go to WDW often and don't spend a ton of time at the resort or in the room.
