WWYD-Pumpkins.. UPDATE #2 - Pumpkins not so important when a house goes up in flames.

Another vote to get them. Have you thought about how you would broach the subject?

The Great Pumpkin Watch '09. Count me in! :)

a little off topic but....
my 15yr old nephew had a friend over. the friend left with nephews ipod. nephew told his mom. his mom told him to go get it back. next thing you know, the police are at my sisters house. my nephew was charged with "robbery by sudden snatching". :confused3 that's the actual term they used. they did reduce it to petty theft but he is still on probation for taking his ipod out of the other boy's pocket. no fight or anything. the juvenile justice lady even told my nephew that he shouldn't have taken it back himself. she told him that he should have called 911. no joke. they also said that none of this would have happened if my sister had done the right thing by calling the police and filing charges against the other boy first. so stupid to waste all this police/court time with such a silly thing.

so if the op went and took back her pumpkins and the other people called the police ON HER, she could actually end up being the one in legal trouble

An Ipod is a lot different than pumpkins. It's something of worth, whereas pumpkins are perishable produce. If the Ipod's serial number was registered to your nephew, it's doubtful he'd have been in trouble.

OP, FWIW, I grew up with three brothers, and I now have a 13 year-old son. We live on a suburban street where approximately 24 boys between the ages of 8 and 18 also live. Whoever is doing this to your stuff is laughing their heads off right now. That, I can promise you.

It's very unlikely that they're going to break into your home and harm you or your family. It's only a prank. They don't call it "trick" or treat for nothing. These kids are "tricking" you.

Call the cops and let them know what's going on so they can handle it. In the meantime, try not to be worried about the safety of you or your daughters. These kids are very likely just vandals, and we certainly hope they don't take it too far by damaging anything of value--which would not be pumpkin vegetables you paid $70 for a month ago.

Another update. A house just went up in flames a few homes away from the house that took our pumpkins. Its actually the house of someone I work with. So as of right now, I'm gona let it go!!!

Whoa. That puts things in perspective. Sorry to hear that. Wonder what happened?

You have got to be kidding!

The police and fire department should be around all night investigating, so your house will be safe for now.

Yeah, puts it in perspective for sure. And yeah, hopefully after this no one will even think about our house. I really just want it to all go away.

BTW - What happened was an electrical fire in the attic. Another neighbor (very nice guy) was sitting outside smoking a cigar and saw flames. He ran over there, and the son answered the door and wouldn't let him in LOL. He said that he didn't know him so he couldn't come in. My neighbor said Thats ok, but you have to get your dad because your house in on fire!!! I was just over there, and everything is under control. They won't be able to sleep there tonight, but at least they are alive.
