Our last stay was May of 2011 and we stayed at the Polynesian and looooved it. We are starting to plan our next trip for Oct 2013 and trying to narrow down where we would like to stay. I know I want to be convenient to either MK or Epcot. Right now we have it narrowed down to the Poly, Boardwalk or Beach Club. We pushed our trip back to Oct hoping mostly all of the construction at MK will be done by then. So, my husband thinks we should stay at the Poly since we will be spending a good deal of time checking out the newly renovated MK. Im torn. Last time we spent a lot of time at Hollywood Studios and Epcot, so Im not sure if I want to be down in that area.
Any thoughts?
Has anyone stayed at all 3 and have any opinions?
Thanks!!!

Just want to add we are planning on staying at Universal 1st either at the Portofino Bay or Royal Pacific.

I guess it depends on what's more important to you--being closer to MK or trying out a new resort. If I can afford it, I LOVE trying out new resorts. It's not really like any resort is far from MK though. I've been to Beach Club before and loved it. We are trying out Boardwalk this time, I love being walking distance from Epcot and I've heard the boardwalk is just great, especially in the evening.

We've stayed at all three! We've stayed at Poly multiple times, and BC (both CL and non-CL) multiple times. We've stayed BWI CL once. They are our three favorite WDW resorts. It was very difficult for us to decide between them for our next trip.

In the end, we decided to stay CL for the entire trip and to split between a monorail resort and an Epcot area resort. So Poly CL was definite, and then we needed to decide between BC CL and BWI CL. BC is our favorite resort overall for a number of reasons - location, theme, general atmosphere, pool, lobby, dining, etc. In the end, we let my husband decide on an Epcot resort and he chose BWI for one reason - we decided on CL the entire time and he prefers the CL there. But if we were staying non-CL, we would definitely choose BC.

So if you are staying non-CL, I'd absolutely recommend a Poly/BC split. If CL on the Epcot side, it's a more difficult call. But I'm happy to answer any questions, if that would be helpful.

Good luck!

These are my three favorite resorts. In October I would pick an Epcot resort. I say this because of the food and wine festival. The Poly is the first resort we stayed at and will always be my favorite, but like you we spend more time at Epcot and Dhs so the Epcot resorts work better for us. They are also less expensive which is a bonus.

If your staying Cl I would say Poly all the way. I didn't really care for Cl at Yc, but I loved the resort. I have heard great things about BW CL, but I haven't tried it.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices.

I love the Poly, and if you're planning to be at MK a lot then it makes sense to stay there again. I also love the Beach Club, and its so close to Epcot and the Food and Wine Festival if you plan to spend time there, but its a pain getting to MK if you think you'll be going there several times. What about the GF? That way you're close to MK and you get to try a different resort. :goodvibes We just stayed there in January and it was HEAVENLY!!!!!!!!! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Here's my GF trip report: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2851806

If MK is the focal point (youg children), stick with the Poly.

For my family, now that the kids are a little older, there is nothing like walking into EPCOT.

I've only stayed at YC, but we loved it. We had a room looking across the lake to BW. Not a big fan of BW the resort, but love that I can walk over to the BW to eat or stroll....

This is a tough one. Last time was easy, Poly was my dream resort so I jumped at the chance to stay there. The kids are going to be 9 and 10 by the time we go...but I am thinking we will probably do 2 days at MK, 1 Epcot, 1 DHS and 1/2 AK 1/2 MK or something like that. We are only doing 5 nights since we are going to try out Universal 1st.
Thanks to those who have replied, I guess in the end we cant really go wrong no matter what we choose. :)

Poly would be my first choice if money wasn't an issue. But now that we are DVC members, the Poly is out. :( We have stayed at the Beach Club & Boardwalk. I would not stay at the Boardwalk again because they don't have anywhere to eat in the resort. If it's raining and you want to get something to eat, your gonna get wet. The Beach Club is much better and just as close to EPCOT and Studios.

If you are at the Poly in your room, and it is raining outside, and you want to get something to eat, aren't you going to get wet walking to Captain Cook's, Kona Cafe, or Ohana. For those buildings close to the TTC that is one long walk in the rain to the main lobby at the Poly.

I agree with the PPs, that it really depends on the focus of your trip. My family doesn't have small children and we love the F&W festival. So staying near Epcot is our preference. If we get back before Epcot closes, we can just walk in, get a snack at F&W and then head back to the hotel. As an added plus, it's pretty easy to get to DHS from any of the Epcot resorts.
