WWYD: ipod touch or kindle fire for Teenage girl?

Thanks for the info. I will be purchasing off amazon for sure though. I have saved up my amazon gift cards from doing swagbucks all year and have almost enough credit to buy 2 Kindle Fires, an 8 gb ipod touch (might check into the 16 gb though,) and several gifts for my DH and DD. I love free stuff.

Wow, I think I better check out Swagbucks!

If you can afford the 16GB definitely get that one. My dd had an 8GB and filled it up with apps. She couldn't keep alot of her music on it so she ended up using her older nano just for her music. I upgraded her to the 32GB last year, and she has more room than she knows what to do with!

Yes I would wait to hear about the iPad Mini, press conference is on Tuesday, I think. (10/23/12). I am curious to know the price point as well.

The pro to having an i-touch is all you need on file to have an account is a gift card. I wouldn't want a kid to have range to your credit card. So by giving her the device and say a $10 gift card she'll have all she needs to set up her own account without you or her parents credit cards. Then she can also download free apps, free tv episodes, etc. I've had an I-tunes account for years and have not once given them my credit card information.

I'm gonna throw an extra option in here just to be confusing. I think if she wants something small and more focused on music the iTouch sounds great, but if she's looking for more of a tablet PC, why not look at a Google Nexus 7?

It's the same size as the Fire, cheaper than what the iPad mini will likely go for and it runs Android same as the Kindle Fire. Only instead of being locked in getting all her content through Amazon she can be a bit more selective. She can install the Kindle app and buy/read books like she would on a Fire but also use Google's far larger App store. Also I personally didn't think the Kindle Fires had very nice touchscreen response, I had to press very hard and they were clunky.

Thanks! More food for thought... my DH actually has a Nexus and loves it!

Great thread! I was trying to decide between the Kindle Fire and iPod touch for my 10 y.o. dd. It will be her only present other then a Katniss Hunger Games Barbie!
Then I saw Apple.com has refurbs. of the 4th Gen Touches on sale today! Got her the 32 gb on for $189 including taxes and free shipping.
Then I saw on Ebay they have a 16 gb new one for $170. Oh well, I already ordered the 32 gb refurbed one.

$19 for an extra 16 gb memory is definitely worth it!

son has touch 5g and dds have kindle fires. i think based on the fact she doesn't need a camera, i would vote for the fire.
