WWYD I Need Some Advice UPDATE POST 17

Okay we went to GNC a couple of weeks ago and got DH somethings to take and drink for his workouts.Well he got some Whey protien that was a lemonade flavor but was told we could bring it back in 30 days if he did not like it.So he tried it and hated it so we just was going to take it back today and get the chocolate that he has tried and liked.
So we get there and the girl working there tells me she has to call her Manager to see what she has to do,so he tells her we can exchange it for something the same price,well we were back on the store looking around and she comes back up to us and says that her manger just called back and said I would have to come back tomorrow and let him take care of it.Which I thought was crazy why would he have to do and exchange for me.
So we get what we want and I wen and asked her if I could just get the amount of the item I brought back credited back to my card and then I would turn around and just purchase the new product.She then got very rude to me and told me that she had already told me that her manager wanted to do that as she did not know how,Well I was standing there in behind a woman that had just brought something back and gotten credit.I asked her why she could do that for her and not do it for me she started screaming at me and told me I could talk to her Manager on the phone myself or to get out of her store,so I said fine i want to speak to the manager,that was the biggest mistake of my life I have never ever been talked to like that :scared1: .

I told him when we first got on the phone that the employee had been very rude to me well he told me to never speak about one of his employees like that again.So he goes on to tell me that she does not feel comfortable doing that for me and that I will have to come back tomorrow and I will speak to him with respect or he will put me out of his store,I was standing there with my mouth on the floor I did not know what to say.I asked him why he was speaking to me that way and he told me to get my *** out of his store and that he was calling the police:rolleyes: .WTH and I asked how he was going to do that as I was just asking him a simple question as to why I was not able to get a refund and purchase the product like the lady in front of me did.
So I am on the phone with him and he has 911 on his other phone telling them that he has an irate customer in his store and he wants them to come and put me out.So i just pick up my thngs and walk out the door and start to drive off and I see the cops pulling up,so I just pull back around and go speak to the cop that was there and he tells me to go back at 10:30 in the morning and that the manager wants me out of there after the refund.The manager calls back 3 times while I am standing outside talking to him and he is telling the cop over and over he wants me out of the store,so finally the cop told him that we are not even in the store we are standing outside and he is telling me what I need to do.
The Cop could not believe how this guy was acting and told me I needed to call GNC corporate office and report how I was treated.

I have never ever in my 32 years of life ever been spoke to this way.When we first went in the girl was arguing with another customer about some protein bars and had called her manager on them and he told them that they could not have the box of assorted that they wanted.So they left their bars on the counter and left.

So if you are still with me what would you do? I felt so embarassed because I was being talked to that way by the employee and the Manager in front of people.It bothered me so bad I have cried over this and I dont cry very easily:sad2:

So please any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

I would get the District Manager's name and number and contact that person. I would also contact corporate and let them know. Be specific with names and dates.

Wow...certainly go to GNC corporate and ask for him to be fired, if possible.
I mean does he own this store or just work there?
Perhaps you can have the police back you up? :confused3
 
Contact the Corporate office and mall management. NO ONE should be treated like that.

He is the District manager ,So i would assume he does not own it.
 
Call Corporate! That was just wrong. And how po'd I'd be if I was needing the police to come to my aid or emergency, but instead they were there talking with you about that manager. What a waste of police time and effort. Call Corporate.

I agree....contact the district mangager....they always say with a bad experience you tell 10 people...minimum....you told the whole dis! Good for you! I hate getting crappy service!

My DH is wanting to take off work and go with me up there tomorrow and I told him NO,I dont need him in jail:lmao: .
I am calling Corporate before I go up there tomorrow.
The customers in the store was shocked standing there with their eyes bulging:scared1: .
I was so embarrassed.

I agree, let Corporate know. If there's a police report, include it in your correspondence. They need to know how he's treating their customers.

But to be honest, after that I'd let it go. This guy sounds nuts, and possibly unstable. He's not worth any further trouble.

Not that it's really necessary, but I would take along someone as a witness due to the insane behavior you've already encountered from the female clerk and the district manager. I'd just feel better having someone else standing by and taking note of all that's said tomorrow. Sometimes, when someone else is standing there and hearing it all, people tend to behave better. You were treated terribly and I hope you come back and give an update as to how all this works out. Wishing you the best! :thumbsup2

Well I had thought about getting my Dsis or someone like that to go but not DH he is furious and he dont get mad but he told me today it would be worth sitting in jail for the night to have the pleasure of breaking his nose and blacking his eyes LOL:rotfl: .But we want let that happen:thumbsup2 ,I would not give the Manager the pleasure of having DH put in jail so hubby will be going to work tomorrow:rotfl2:

Yeah, I caught that a bit later. But district managers have bosses too. Usually called Regional managers. But, Why would a simple employee call a district manager and not the store manager? :confused3 I really think they are having "a thing". OR, that wasn't the manager but her boyfriend. Back to the "thing".
 
:scared1: That is freaky, this place sounds like you have to be insane to work there.

If there's a Rite-Aid near you they carry GNC products.

I would report this incident to corporate, go over the head of this 'District Manager' (if that is even what he is).

And then I'd find someplace else to purchase my supplements

Do District Managers usually work in a store? I thought they worked at the District office and oversee a bunch of local stores! I think he lied to you! He was probably just the store manager! I worked in retail for a while, years ago, and everyone made a big deal about the "district manager" coming. He came for the day to look around, in a suit, with an entourage!
 
Okay I have been on the phone all morning with CS at Corprate and then they just had the Regional Director call me so it has been about 3 hrs total on the phone.
They are furious at how I was treated yesterday and from what I gather the employee and the Manager will both be losing their jobs.The Manager is just that and nothing more the Regional Director could not believe what he had said to me and then that he told me that he was District manager.

So Terry the Regional Director told me to go to the other GNC store this weekend and we could have anything we wanted and it was on him so we are just going to take back what we tried to yesterday and get the Chocolate:lmao: .I cant believe that it turned into what it did over returning an item.

When I called CS this morning the rep just kept saying unbelievable this is ridiculous.
So they usually only forward complaints every 30 days but she copied and pasted our conversation and emailed it and then called the Regional director while I was on the phone and within 10 minutes my phone was ringing.

So thanks for all your Support.

I'm really glad you called the corporate offices and they are getting you taken care of! I know that corporate has been buying out the individual owners for the past few years and there is a good chance they would be in charge of the store. Sounds like they are. I think it sounds like the manager and that girl have a thing going on! ;)
