We have never stayed off site. I really don't want to but because this is a last minute not really budgeted decision I am going for cheapest hotel room. We are going this week and staying at SOG.

In mid September we are going back for 2 days to disney, need a hotel for 3 or 4 nights (haven't decided yet, we are doing seaworld too) that can sleep 6 people. Our 5 plus my mil if she decides to come.

We can do military rate with the 40% off code or book as florida residents (we are all residents) at the all stars family suites (we can use codes for that right?)

OR we can use one of the cheapy sites and book off site for either country inn and suites or buena vista suites (both sleep 6 and have free breakfast so that helps) or something like that.

SOG is out. Dh will be a higher pay rate at that point so it's not worth it.

What would you do?

I think it would help to know what the price difference is. If it is minimal, and b-fast is the main difference, I would stay onsite. If there is a huge difference, I would stay offsite. If you do decide to stay offsite, check out www.hotelkingdom.com they have a lot of good deals on condos. so does www.bookit.com They may not offer breakfast, but they have a lot of space for the money!

I'd do the 40% discount on either a family suite, or two rooms at a value if you have 6 people going (if they are available). The military discount is good for up to 3 rooms. If your MIL is not going, and there are just 5 in the group, do the POR that will sleep 5 with the military discount. 40% is too good a deal to pass up. ;-)

As far as breakfast goes... you have a mini kitchen in the fam suites... a fridge & microwave. You can get cereal, oatmeal, etc and do breakfast in your room. That's what we did each day. BUT my suggestion, get something that YOU can "grab and go" because I never had time to sit down and eat a bowl of cereal! I was always snacking on the baby's Cheerios I had packed for the parks once we got on the bus. :rotfl:

You do know your DH can get a free 5 day w/park hopper & water park option ticket free, and he can purchase up to 5 more tickets for $99 for base, plus $25 for the park hopper & $25 for the water parks (meaning a total of $149/ticket). These need to be either purchased at the main ticket gate (with military ID in hand) or at his local military office (not sure off the top of my head what this is called).

edited to add: Sept is free dining... so food shouldn't be an issue if you stay on property. Again, do the 40%, forgo the military ticket program, and buy 2 day MYW tickets, and take advantage of the free food! You can typically do 2 value rooms cheaper than a family suite... but if you only have 5 I say go with the POR that has a trundle.

Yes we know about the tickets, it's why we are goin twice this year. We split the 5 days into 2 trips of 3 and 2 days.

We might just go back to shades of green with the return stay coupon they left in our room. It's only valid for aug and sept and it's 40% off for 4 nights or more (it's less for shorter stays, 20 or 30%). I don't feel like dealing with dining (I know I'm crazy) even if it's free. That makes it much cheaper and we can do what we always do and eat in the room. They don't have all the nights we want though so I don't even know what to do ugh. I am on the cancellation list for now.

I have a lot of number crunching to do!

I know you said you don't like to deal with dining, but with the free program you could use all of your credits for counter service meals... that way you won't have to fight the crowds at the table service meals.

Would SOG be cheaper (with the 40% off) than 40% off another resort? I don't know how SOG's rates compare.

Good luck with whatever you decide; and just think, you're making a second trip back to WDW this year, so you know it's going to be good!
