We are having a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding on April 28th 2018. Our ceremony is at 9:30 AM at the Wedding Pavilion followed by a Brunch reception at the GM Lounge above Test Track and then a fireworks DP that night in Epcot. There will be approximately a 5 hour break between the end of the reception and start of the dessert party.

My question is... what would you do about dinner during this break? Should we skip it all together since we are having a buffet brunch and then dessert party? But if we skip it and we are still hungry after the DP, there won't be many options that late at night.. plus we have to be up early the next morning for our MK park shoot.

To complicate things further we are changing hotels from the GF to the BC on the wedding day (I know this isn't recommended, but we don't want to pay GF prices for another night). We are most likely going to have the GF transfer our luggage to the BC.. and depending on how long that takes I could be in my wedding dress most of the day. So if we make an ADR for a restaurant on the Boardwalk or at the BC, I might have to go in my wedding dress..

Or we could order room service, but I haven't enjoyed BC room service in the past, so I'd hate to waste money or 2 dining credits for mediocre food.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

You will be hungry. I'd do room service or a quick serve. I'd also recommend changing out of your dress, too, assuming someone can help you put it back on for your DP. Not your hubby - they are pretty useless when it comes to wedding dress styling.

I was in my dress for our Disney wedding from like 12-11pm and was ready to burn the thing when I finally got it off. :rotfl:

You gotta factor-in that no groom was ever in a state of mind of "How do I get my new wife to get back in that dress":teeth:

Keep in mind you'll want to be hungry when you get to the dessert party, assuming you aren't going to be coy about pigging out on the sweets;)

Congrats on your wedding! I am planning a vow renewal one day and my dream is to have a similar plan to yours and also to go to 1900 Park Fare for dinner to get character photos in my dress. I think that sounds like a really fun idea!

I wouldn't plan on anything. Just snack if you get hungry after brunch, enjoy your first day as man and wife, and milk the desser party for all it's worth

Counter service or a snack. I wouldn't want to eat too much before the dessert party.

I would either make an ADR at Capt. Grill (its quiet and the food is good) or plan to get QS in WS (France and Morocco both have good food and lovely settings). Can you put a change of clothes in a day bag and have a guest hold it for you so you can change out of your dress after brunch and not wait for your luggage to arrive?

Getting hitched in the morning I'd say room service unless you've been together awhile then I'd say beaches and Cream...just because.

Beaches and Cream completely slipped my mind! Good choice for a light dinner.. as long as I can keep my fiancé from ordering a sundae. We will have been together 8 years by next April.. so I guess you could say it's been a while :thumbsup2

Everyone has been so surprised when I tell them I'm going to be wearing my dress to the reception and dessert party. It's an A line dress with lots of tulle, a cathedral train, and sleeves It's heavy, but I thought it was relatively comfortable. I should probably come up with a plan to have a change of clothes though.. just in case it starts dragging me down :rotfl2:

Thank you! That sounds so fun!! I'd definitely be looking into a character dinner if there was one at the BC :sad:

This is how I want the day to go, but my Type A personality says otherwise! I'm the kind of person that likes to make an ADR for a restaurant where I might not even need one.. you know.. "just in case" :rotfl:So it's going to be hard for me to not plan LOL.. but I really don't think we will want to have to worry about making an ADR. If only Beaches and Cream was still a walk-up TS :sad1:

QS in France sounds like a great idea!! Then we can also get newlywed Grey Goose slushees

I don't know why I didn't think of packing a day bag!! My parents will be at BC, so I can easily give them a bag with a change of clothes in it to keep in the room and then meet up with them after the reception to get the bag. I have wedding brain already :crazy2:

I kinda love the idea of going to Beaches and Cream in the wedding attire. It would be adorable.

Just a note to say, I barely ate at my wedding because I was running around so much greeting guests and dancing and taking photos, etc., etc. I was also so keyed up I didn't really feel hungry. After the wedding was over I was starving!

Voted nothing - meaning leave all your options open without adding one more commitment to an already busy day. You can order room service if you are in your room at the right time you are hungry (allowing for the change), grab some quick service where ever you are, not hungry maybe some grab & go to the room, Mickey Bar ........... I just don't think I would worry about it until the day plays out, you see where you are and how hungry you are.

Are you planning on eating alone, just the two of you, or our you also having something for your guests? A 5 hour break is a long time. I also got married at WDW. My wedding was later and we had a buffet dinner/reception/cake and timed it for the dessert party at Epcot (Italy). I had a charter bus pick up all my guests at the hotel to bring them to the wedding and once the wedding/reception was over, the bus took as all to Epcot for the dessert party. I still had my wedding dress on. When we got to Epcot the parade was just ending. We followed in behind at the end and walked a short distance receiving cheers from the crowd. My guests loved it and it made for some great pictures. I also had the photographer at the dessert party which also made for great pictures. That's why I say have your wedding dress on. I got married in 2001, and I know things change, but isn't it a complimentary night at the GF your wedding night? So, you wouldn't have to leave till the next morning? You can always get your dress steamed. I had to. We did the MK photo short two days after the wedding. I would definitely check in with your Disney wedding planner. She may have suggestions that you may not have even thought of. That's what she's there for. Also, check out the wedding/honeymoon forum on the Disboards. Post your question(s), I'm sure you'll get plenty of helpful advice. Congratulations on your upcoming.

I kinda like the idea too! :) I just wish I didn't have to make an ADR for Beaches and Cream that way I'm not "tied" to a schedule during that 5 hour break. I've heard a lot of people say they didn't really get to eat at their wedding.. that's why I'm thinking we might be hungry by dinner time.

I would leave it open. If you get hungry order room service or just get TS. Grab a snack in the lounge if you want. Make a last minute ADR if you want. But I would just not have another thing planned.

Just hang around the Boardwalk, and see what you feel like. You will probably have all kinds of emotions going on, and worrying about an ADR shouldn't be part of that. Big River Grill is a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the afternoon, if the weather isn't too hot. I agree with others that say you need to eat something protein-y before the dessert party.

Congrats on your wedding!!!

It will just be the two of us during the break. We are letting our guests do their own thing during the break because most of them will only be there over the weekend, so they want some time to explore the parks.

My first choice was the 2:30 PM ceremony time, which would've allowed the reception to flow nicely into the dessert party. Apparently there was a lot of couples wanting the same date, so we ended up with our second choice of 9:30 AM. I'm planning on wearing my dress to the DP, but will probably need to change during the 5 hour break since it's soooo heavy.

We are using our complimentary night at the Grand Floridian for the night before our wedding (photography starts at 7:30 AM, so any extra sleep saved by not having to travel will help!!) and we are booking 2 rooms so we can get ready without seeing each other, so we are already paying for one night at the GF. With our discount the price is still $519 for a garden view :sad2:

Thank you for all the advice :disrocks:
